F1 needs no drivers. There are more talent than seats. It moved on without any notice of Schumi, Kimi or FA. Nice to see FA back but its not the end of F1 for any driver to leave. They are not hero's at all. Not worth worshipping etc. They drive. We watch and are intrigued with F1. Same for next year.

Yep. There are Hero's but I think I'm too old now for real F-1 heroes... but I can see how Kids can get wrapped up in Hamilton, Vettel and Verstappen etc... with all the social media stuff Norris and Riccardo are popular as well... but when they are gone - there will still be cars to drive fast.

    FYI: my F-1 heroes:
    1. Jackie Stewart
    2. Niki Lauda
    3. Gilles Villeneuve
    4. Alan Prost
    5. Emmerson Fittipaldi

I've met all of them in real live too... only disappointment was Lauda and Prost... Lauda was not a "warm" person so you usually got a grunt or very generic answer...except for one time at Austin he actually said to me. "would you like some strudel?" as he was eating a piece in the MB team hospitality.

Prost was just very shy, and quiet. even in French, he just did not talk much.

all the others were very nice - and exceedingly polite. Villeneuve I met on the Wednesday before the 1979 GP.... so he signed my program and patted me on the head.
Same for Fittipaldi we saw him in 75 when he was with McLaren... at Dinner Glen Motor court .... he was sitting across from us with 5 other people... signed my program then as well... but I've since seen / met him bunch of times at CART races and F-1 ... super nice guy. - Huge nose.

the best has to be Jackie Stewart.... so nice and approachable.

I like your list. Before Emmo left for Copersucar he was WDC(2) or 1st runner-up for four straight years.
I would add Mario and Ronnie Peterson to the list.

Again, I will restate that nobody is saying Max wasn't a deserving champion. He drove well all season. The problem was the way things were decided at the end of Abu Dhabi. Horner got the miracle he was hoping for.

All these quotes don't sit well with me, "Max had bad luck in the season so the ending was justified."

Well that's complete bollocks, sport is about fairness not about equality, and if folk want to talk about luck, Max was lucky he wasn't penalised more often during the season but it is what it is.

Hamilton deserved the race win at Abu Dhabi and was cheated out of certain victory in a manner that's never happened before, that's the fact of the matter at the end of the day.

That's a great list , and curiously all of them were similar kind of drivers...except for Gilles that was the complete opposite!

Because Red Bull did not have the bribery culture or the excess billions to get the FIA to push through the regulations neutering the competition’s ability to react to their scripted new “formula” a decade ago.

I refrained from any comment...but, in a nutshell and with understatement: Charles is going to have a very important year in 2022; no more excuses will be acceptable.

Oh Geez... Hamilton crossed Latifi's crashed car at lap 53 out of 58... Mercedes was afraid to lose track position if they had pitted, Red Bull took the risk. Add to that also the incredible naivety from Hamilton for leaving the door open to Max...

Max won the race fair and square, and is the only deserving champion.

Charles is certainly not at the same level than Elton, he as surpassed him a long time ago, as did Max, as for Max, those of us who have seen them batle now the score, Max won by pushing him off the track, Charles gave the ansewr the enxt race...they are both top notch drivers, let's hope we can see them both fighting for the championship...

Exacly, too bad elton fans can't see the diference for example with Silverstone, where the batle was decided by one driver pushing the other off track....i guess if you can't beat them, either send them into the barriers, or call Pirro and Conelly to give him a penalty!

Now this is really plainly ridiculous, Pedro; simply ridiculous.
Charles has proved exactly Nothing so far = two wins in 2019 with a car that was even not legal.
If he was good (I'm not saying "great", only "good") he should have been well above Sainz last season. But the plain facts are that he was not.
Unless he wins a number of races next years and finishes well ahead of Sainz, which remains to be proven, he will be soon forgotten. Just another Alesi: a fast idiot.
He has everything in his cards, but now he has to sort it out a make it a winning hand; and THAT remains to be seen.
To put him above Lewis? Come on: at this stage, this is plainly, utterly, ridiculous (And I'm not a Lewis fan, but well: facts are facts)

he showed more to me than Lewis ever did, in a similarly competitive car he trounced him twice in a row, that's enough for me. He's qualifying performances and even races were IMO far better than lewis who had the faster car on the grid.
AS for Alesi, if Charles is as fast as him i don't know, but if he is, we (ferrari fans) are in very good hands.
I'm not a fan of Sainz, but i can assure he's good.

To be honest I was very surprised at the (lack of) performance from Charles last season. Occasionally he found way more time than Sainz out of the car but then threw it away due to over-exuberance or whatever. For now, I'll put it down to "it's an uncompetitive car anyways, might as well try and do the impossible, If I podium I look a hero, if I crash...well who cares about losing 6th?" But his 2021 season reminded me more of his 2018 season when he didn't remind me of the spectacular F2 season he had.
