    Yep
Tend to believe he was a little bit demotivated.
His mindset was « break it or make it » all year long.
Indeed his formula 2 season as a Rookie was mind blowing.
Remember he would have done all the pole positions of the main races without two disqualifications for technical infringement..

Agreed: I repeat my answer, then: either he over-performs in 2022, or he fades into oblivion...

Hahahaha you must live on cloud cuckoo land, how on earth has Charles exceeded Hamilton, he can't even exceed Sainz for crying out loud.

I've met Mario twice - once when I was 11 - he literally stepped on my foot... and then again in the late 80's at a CART race... he was nice but a bit stand offish. I've seen Peterson in person - Watkins Glen was super easy in those days to see drivers... sadly I was never much of a fan so did not pay attention to him.

I hope he's not a Fast Idiot, but it could be. I really think Ferrari struggled without a senior driver like Vettel to set up the car. I think that is where Leclerc struggles is set up. Also think he had a bit of bad luck and then lost mental focus and confidence... its tough. I have to tell myself that these guys are really kids, under huge pressure - and its easy to mentally lose it. I will give Hamilton credit for that- he's been strong his whole career.... that he certainly earned.

He is a super nice guy, always has time to talk, and is very sharp. I got to know his son Marc - again a great guy.

Let's be realistic, there's a couple of drivers that could give Hamilton and Verstappen a run for their money given equal equipment but Hamilton has at least proven to be superior to every teammate he's faced.

If we are being honest Verstappen has had it too easy and all his way at RB for too long, at least Mercedes do actually let their drivers race until it's clear one is out of the running.

Leclerc is a bit of a disappointment to me.

I expected better things from him, thinking he was potentially at the same level as Verstappen, his rival from karting days.

In previous years, he did better than Vettel who is a fading star anyway, but in 2021, the comparison with Sainz did him no favour.

Maybe he is another Jacky Ickx ?

    errrmm....

In their WDC 3 years together Ham just about edged Robserg 2-1, despite Ham benefiting from superior engineers and better car reliability.
Rosberg finally got Ham's engineers for 2016.

Ricciardo has been available but kept well away from the other Mercedes seat ;)

And Button v Ham, 2-1 marginally as well

    1-1 or 0-0 with Alonso.

Honestly do you believe that a driver can beat Verstappen today in an equal car ?

I will give him the benefit of the doubt, hell even Lewis had a bad year
Hahahahaha is that we they swapped their engineers every season, if you're going to lie at least make it half convincing. Hamilton was clearly better than Rosberg, you can make every excuse possible but let's deal with facts.

Yes, of course, not if that car is developed around him with no thought of his teammate like RB have been doing.

They talk about Bottas being a wingman, he's not even close to what RB have with their second driver.

    And
And Verstappen lost 2-1 against DR, I'll let you call it marginal though to save face.

So Hamilton is 6-2 up against all the world champions he's faced.

Verstappen is 2-1 down against the one driver who had equal opportunity.

There's levels to this game Bas.

    Please!
Verstappen was 18-19 years old against Daniel.
Three years before he was world champion in karting.

The old age excuse, he shouldn't have been in F1 if he couldn't swim in the deep end. Lol

Hamilton was only 22 when he beat a 2 x world champion in Alonso and he was also a rookie, there's levels ain't they mate.

    Wipe away your salty tears

Max is WDC and Ham is sulking. Get over it.

Remember that dossier that Nico and his engineers got after Hamilton completely obliterated him in Malaysia 2014, hardly seems like they had Hamilton's best interests at heart does it?

Just imagine Crashtappen crying if RB did the same with his title rival.
