No he was surprised by the pace of Lewis, and then sabotaged secretly Alonso because he is Spaniard.
He believed mid season the championship was only between Lewis and Nando.

Look, every driver that wins a WDC has to have a car capable of doing so, and sometimes the advantage is bigger than others. Sometimes two or three teams can build a car capable of winning the title, while others it's just one, and whoever happens to be in that car is going to cruise.

Hamilton has been in the latter category for 7 years. 14', 15' and 16'? Mercedes were miles ahead of the field, and gotten by Roseberg in equal cars. 17' Ferrari put up a fight, and he had a challenge from Vettel, so I give him credit there fully. 18', 19, and 20' he was on cruise control. No other teams were near the Mercedes 80% of those years.

The fact that Russel could step into that Mercedes with no seat time and click off laps like Hamilton faster than Bottas, speaks to what a joke Bottas is, and how that Mercedes is dream to drive for anybody in it.

Agree, Bottas didn't deserve that seat and when Merc has been in a class of its own it's reminiscent of the supreme Williams with Villeneuve, Frentzen, Hill. That car was 1 second a lap quicker than anything else, but we still enjoyed a tough battle with MSC.
