Looks like he stole the drapes from the cheap hotel and made a suite out of them.

I hope you are right. They were struggling this year to get cars and reached out last minute to several collectors I know asking for cars.

Lol, even my friends “driver” ‘84 308 gts got invited last minute as a favor. Ferrari needed an 80 Ferrari for the display but apparently they settled for his 84. :)

They had MASSIVE problems getting all the cars for the 75 years. And finally ended up with several years wrong. But again, that's not really important.
I got a large number of calls and mails, asking for help, all very last minute.

They were not ready on Saturday either. It was a monumental Cluster F###. The judging was to start at 8:30 and not yet half the cars were on the field. The entire field was helter skelter. My entrant with a GTO was told "Just park in the middle somewhere". I saw a friend who was one of the guys guiding where to park and he showed me his parking map. It was quite a beautiful design of big flowing curves of cars using the natural land shape to accentuate it. Problem was no definition of car types or classes was in the plan They put a few Testarossas on land that was so sloped and uneven the cars were so twisted the doors would not open. They needed to be moved with a crowd of people and tight quarters between cars so they could be shown. Cars in your class could be and were scattered everywhere. One of our class was an important car owned by and important collector. We looked and asked everywhere and spent half an hour of our precious time looking for it and never did. We finally gave up and were heading in to turn in the scores we did have and passed it in a tightly clustered group of cars a few hundred yards from any other car in its class. I said we were suppose to start at 8:30 but we could not start until 10:00 We were supposed to be done and scores turned in by 11:45.We were told several times the schedule needed to be followed so you know how that was achieved. The race cars were directed onto the field through a driveway no low car had a chance of getting into so they were redirected into an entry with a great many cars already parked between their new entry point ant the remaining free parking for them so there was a huge fire drill making that happen. It was a clown show of the highest order. They bought an existing organized event and turned it into a show that looked as if it was all thought up that morning.

He was there but you sure could not tell by the lack of organization or preparedness. He was at the gate and probably why I even got in.

Since Saturday morning I spoke to a number of people who were there as well, got plenty of direct and personal feedback, and they basically all told me the same.
Massive chaos, totally disorganized. Proper IAC/PFA judging must have been a nightmare.

Those photogs were still taking pictures long after the cars should have been on the field.
Future promotion is clearly more important than the event.

We used to have an Asterisk on the itinerary at Le Belle Macchine d’Italia. * “All activities are based on Italian Time and subject to change for no particular reason!” The Italian Americans Loved it, the Italian Nationals were not amused.
