Maybe they got the old Cavallino Restaurant cook after all. He was probabily not doing anything and he was cheap.
A day later and many reports from people that are “actually there” have had loads of complaints and issues to report. We’ll see how the final reports look but it sure appears concerns were legitimate and not just “haters”…
To he;p you out with your ignorance I was made a member of the IAC/PFA board to help with the condition of our later car judging situation. We have had a very real shortage of qualified people in that area. I fought for multiple years to get Steve invited to be a judge because of his reputation. I was ignored until recently. Because there was so little movement in that area and very little on the horizion I resigned from the board in protest on Friday. I was also very happy that because of me and my other half we were able to get Steve a position of advising member on the board effective last Friday. Because I am gone they might just listen to him. Stuff it prick. Stay in your own lane and cut back just a little on topics you know nothing of.
You could debate the topic without aggressive condescension and personal attacks. One day ban per offense, see you in 3 days. Please be more amicable upon your return. All the best, Andrew.
Good things did happen. I hate to focus on my personal experience as just negative. It wasn’t. Yes, check in was delayed. Yes, lawn placement was a mess. And yes, $600.00 or whatever for dinner was a total waste for me. We went to HMF for my favorite the HMF Rolls afterwards. But the judges Saturday morning were the best, the Saturday night dinner venue was beautiful, and my First in Class trophy is a keeper and won’t be placed in a drawer as with many others. And of course Mar A Lago was great despite more mostly crap food. I received a mass email from one of the usual (respectable) Ferrari sources this past week only to be alerted to the drama that has occurred with the Cavallino event. After reading all the threads I received an education, and I’m appalled. Ferrarichat, an excellent resource of shared knowledge of our cars has become a sounding board; and rightfully so. Many of the contributors are well seasoned experts and generous with their knowledge. Ask a technical question, get several qualified answers to the problem........What if they were banned from posting here because they weren’t authorized Ferrari service techs? This is no different than banning them from the judging field. The un-invited are specialists that have dedicated their passion and profession to the preservation of our cars and deserve a little more respect than recently conveyed. In any marque, alienating a specialist (aka those that have the most to offer) is not in the best interest of the collective. ........I think I understand where this is leading to. Someone should remind F. S.p.A. Corporate that this model didn’t work for Benito either.
Do you really think Brian gives a flying flip what you think? And to “protect” Rob? Rob Lay probably holds the record for personal attacks on FerrariChat. And you think he is going to be butt hurt? Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
that's good then, so you attacked me for supporting Steve when seems you have the same level of support? you make zero sense except trying to make up something out of the air to attack me. that confirms it then, you are just crazy trying to hate on me without substance.
I just got the after-event email. I’d post it here if I knew how. Who writes this stuff? It could have used a good edit. But I did learn that GTOs are “exclusive.” Enzo’s cook’s grandson was mentioned, of course, along with you-know-what.
I think Andrew would be the last to protect me and we've had a pretty good process last few years when there are issues with users interacting with me, then I back off and just let the mods handle per the rules. I will stick up for Andrew though. Besides you and Brian, I believe most of our community doesn't want to take things to the gutter like that.
The AFTER-event mail by Canossa (which I also received) is not only full of errors, they did not even get the name of the Best of Show winner spelled right. Absolutely zero quality here, they simply don't care, or don't know and do everything last minute and hush-hush. I would be absolutely furious if I were Roberto Quiroz, the winner and owner of the really very special 365 Tre Posti #8971. Thank you Roberto (and restorer Paul Russell and Company) for bringing the car to Palm Beach. As for the Series Two GTO #5573 GT of Aaron Hsu, Best of Show competition Ferraris, this truly spectacular car is described as being "unique". It can be assumed that organizers simply don't know that the factory built more than one Series Two example of the GTO, hence it is not "unique". Congratulations to Aaron as well (and to restorer Chris Parker) and thank you for showing your fabulous GTO. Marcel Massini
