I will say this - the fact that they send the ribbon cars out and back in is great for photos. The award location however was not. Way too small for the number of cars.

I also dont understand why they changed the layout on the main lawn..

Finally, for the 75th anniversary of the brand, the entry list was lacking on many important cars. Not a single P car. No 275 Comp cars. No Daytona Comp. I am guessing there is not much they can do if the owners are not interested or busy but a shame the field didnt include more racing cars.

on an aside, i DEFININTELY think the weather played a role in car turnout and attendance. I was in shorts and a polo, but my wife was freezing (she's a native Floridian) and the rain didn't make for a great time, but it stopped raining later in the day...but it got even cooler....

at the end of the day, and all things considered equal - it was a GREAT Car show to go to....It beat staying home....and we got to see some amazing cars....can't beat that....

no doubt that's how it sounds it went....
i took my vintage Vette to the Boca Raton Concourse show to be judged. The offload, placement of my car, staff went flawlessly and quickly. Got best in class too which made the experience even sweeter. All owners are under so much pressure....delays of an hour or so to get onto the fields would have drove me crazy....

Amelia Island Concours has never used the IAC/PFA judging system.

In an interview, Bill Warner was adamant that Amelia Island would NOT use the traditional 'points' system of judging.
In spite of what the Ferrari community has been using for decades, Mr. Warner wanted to judge more like the French Concours, rather than a point system.

    Correct.
Same for Villa d'Este and some other concours.

Pebble Beach, FCA Nationals, Concorso Italiano FCA and until recently Cavallino as well used the long established IAC/PFA judging and point system.

what did Cavallino do for voting this year? I was under impression it was IAC/PFA or did they just use IAC/PFA judges?

I am the wrong person to ask.
I did not attend Cavallino two days ago.
But yes, it was meant to be IAC/PFA judging.

What’s your point? Amelia and Cavallino are not really comparable events in a multitude of respects, except this critical one: Both were the products of the vision, passion, and dedication of one man, and I expect that Amelia will also suffer…but not as much as Cavallino…as a result of the change in ownership.

I believe many, maybe even all FCA regional concours judged events also use IAC/PFA guidelines/point system.

Reading all the ups and downs in the Ferrari community with this latest mess i think Mussolini would be proud as some industries in Italy are digging back to their roots. It's all about control and more greed and control. From car shows to clubs and personal information etc, etc

Yes, I just mentioned the major ones.
Most serious concours use the perfect decade-long established IAC/PFA judging system (invented 1984 by Ed Gilbertson). Very well known and accepted in USA, less well known in Europe and the Europeans have a hard time to accept this wonderful and professional system, a) because the Europeans are not so much real serious Concours guys (this is more of an American thing), and b) the Europeans prefer the "French style" Concours where anything is possible, unfortunately. Just look at Villa d'Este..........where judging really is a joke.

Will "#0846" be identified at Amelia as original or replica?

Interesting perspective, we'll have to revisit in several years. Amelia has Hagerty, a large conglomerate with the demands of a public company and many cooks in the kitchen. Cavallino is owned by Luigi's private Canossa with 100% of his control and stellar vintage Ferrari track record with Cavalcade etc. Just seems like where the smart money and Vegas would go, but maybe I'm wrong.

It is kind of like the difference between Vertical Scope buying Ferrari Life, Ferrari.Talk, and Lamborghini Talk vs. Motorsport buying FerrariChat. 5 years later the Vertical Scope forums are dead while FerrariChat still thrives because we're private and I'm still 100% in control.

so that answers that, only the original #0846 won a race, at least the important ones Daytona/Le Mans.

I suspect it was raced with Piper in some capacity though, no? It may be a carefully worded statement to placate Jim while having plausible deniability on the part of Amelia.
