Nice car, great to see the sale price high. Anyone else wonder how the black paint got worn off the gas peddle in just 2300 miles? Probably like my car, I let a lot of people sit in the car and pretend but not drive it..lol

There’s so much liquidity in the system…Most exotic car loans are pretty small (sub $150K?) and fixed rate, not variable...During inflationary environment people usually hoard hard assets, I don’t think we are going to see fire sales unless people lose their jobs, which can happen.

i thought the silver car did all the money and agree with Nat if it was US etc...

i am biased, but i think the euro versions of all these cars are better than their usa counterparts.
my (back to) euro spec 512bbi, is a great strong car.
my italian delivery 512tr has been a fantastic car for the last 21 years/40k km of my ownership - and no mouse belts.
my austrian delivery f40 is lighter, more powerful, and ultimately a better car than any of the usa cars i have seen - and no mouse belts.

i also dont care what their values are.
i drive them all the time and all over the place - all the cars have been in 6-7 countries, been on rallies, racetracks, v-maxxed, and well maintained.

this usa obsession with usa delivered cars, that are now older than 25 years, is just baseless.
any premium paid for them is wasted money imo.
personally, i think the preference is actually laziness for not wanting to either do the deal overseas themselves and dealing with the hassle, or the fear of doing a bad deal overseas without recourse.
whatever. to each their own i guess.
glad i already owned them when i moved here. :)

I agree with you. Probably has to do with laziness or perceived risk. But the recent sale on bat for the silver tr seems to prove it doesn’t really matter. A US version car wouldn’t have done any more than that. That was the value in my opinion of either version. I think they are the same. Maybe the ones that sold earlier were in poor condition we don’t really know each and every case to compare.

The Euro spec models are clear winners in some cases, but for some people, it’s more about not being able to see the car in person. If I’m about to drop big money on a example, I want to be able to see and drive it first. The salesman and pictures etc. won’t tell you the sufficient truth about the car, whether intentionally or not.

    From the Bonhams catalog:

“This striking Ferrari 512 TR is according to Ferrari factory records one of just two factory US specification prototypes produced and based on its VIN sequence; this one is the first of these pre-production cars. This was specifically noted in a Ferrari recall summary letter from Ferrari North America dated June 28, 1995.”

Interesting considering I have what Ferrari considered a complete collection of recalls from the period and with one recall dated June 15 1995 it was applicable only to 456, 355 and 512M.

Still, why is it a prototype, is it different from the actual production models?
