I have not heard of a catastrophic failure of the coolant caps. They will start to weep over time like most modern coolant system relief caps. In 2020, I could tell the cap on my F430 was starting to fail as there was visible indications of a white residue where the relief line plastic nozzle goes into the cap. This was the first time the coolant cap was replaced on my 2008 F430 that I am aware of. Some owners replace the coolant cap every 4 years when they replace the coolant. I have had a few independent shops purchase the coolant caps from me in multiples of 10 and 20. They would probably have better answers than me. Should you get one for your car? That's totally a decision you need to make.
Well its cheap and I plan on changing coolant as soon as I get the car... pm me .. i will get one. Cheers
Damn, just saw this today after buying a single one for a lot more money. I might as well buy 2 more at this price!
On cars I service annually they regularly last 2 years but lasting 3 is almost newsworthy. I am one of the guys who buys them by the boxfull. I think they are not changed even more often is because so few have an adapter to test them. I do and test them on every car.
Roughly three years was my experience with my F355 Spider before it either started leaking at the gasket, elbow, or started releasing on the garage floor. When I first saw this thread started way back, I immediately bought a couple for my 2015 acquisition of a 2009 430 Scuderia, assuming I was on borrowed time...but low and behold, I have yet to use either of the two caps I purchased. I'm sure if I hadn't bought them, I would have had a failure by now...
