Listing this for a friend who is expecting delivery this April. Prices were just increased, and it appears new orders will not be delivered until 2023. He got this order in during September 2021 but is thinking of going in a different direction and will entertain offers to hand this over to someone else with just the delivery miles.

    2022 Tesla Model X Long Range (332 mi. range; 155mph top speed; 3.8s 0-60mph)
Solid Black exterior paint ($1,500 option)
    20" Cyberstream wheels
Cream Premium Interior with Walnut Decor ($2,000 option)
    Six Seat Interior ($6,500 option)
    Yoke Steering Wheel
    Auto-Pilot
    Pay As You Go Supercharging

He is asking $155k. With any questions or offers, please message me here initially. Thanks.

I'm just the messenger. That may be, although I don't believe anyone trying to order one now is likely to see it until next year (or perhaps Q4 2022). My buddy is happy to entertain offers, or he will just keep the car. Less well-appointed 2022 Model Xs popping up (not too many that I have seen) are asking ~$150-160k.

An identically optioned Plaid is $130k and can be had in October (6 months later than your friend's car). No one is paying $40k over MSRP for a non-Plaid Model X at the moment. Just not the market on Teslas, retail or wholesale.

They are great cars, but all of the demand is for the Plaid X at the moment. If his order is changeable for the same delivery date, he could switch it to Plaid and would easily get $155K right now (maybe a bit more). I have seen loaded Model X Plaids (with FSD and most expensive wheel option) changing hands wholesale for $170k-$180k.

Thanks. I'll pass that along so he can explore the possibility if he wants.

No, it’s 100k for base and 121k for the plaid. His friend was “asking” 155k but they are not selling for that. You can order it brand new for October delivery.

126 or 127 for a base plaid... The 121 has the "fuel savings" but don't forget like 22s are 5300 bucks... Self driving 12k etc.... Interior options are a couple grand

There is something curious to me about the Tesla market. Is there a glut of low-mileage cars available? If you go over to Carvana’s website for example and just search cars with very low mileage… they are ALL Teslas. In the below search, the only filter I applied is mileage under 4,000. I got 4 pages of Teslas, with the occasional Leaf mixed in. Easily 20:1 Tesla vs. anything else. Why??

What location did you set? If you set 77006 (houston), you see a very normal selection of inventory

Oh, maybe that’s it. It probably defaulted to San Diego. I thought my search was broader than that.

But that said, Carvana does move cars all over the country in an attempt to maximize their value… so EVs in CA, F350s to Texas, that sort of thing.

My buddy is knocking his asking price down to $145k. Also, this delivery has been pushed out to July, and it seems later deliveries got a corresponding bump into the future as well.
