My favorite tender is the Ctek 7002. Its a substantial improvement over the tender that comes with the 599. It will condition the battery. If you switch out to an AGM just be sure to use the AGM mode. Id recommend changing the battery every 4-5 years.

George, as long as you spread the miles throughout the year, you should be okay.

Could this be due to 2007/2010 chargers being used on new style batteries?

Not sure about the date of the charger manufacturer. I will look into that. Any thoughts on Ferrari being liable due to their charger blowing up the battery. ALGAR wants $700 for a battery and Lord knows how much to put it in.

Very difficult to hold Ferrari accountable since Ferrari doesn't manufacture the chargers or the battery. I know it is not good news.

I have used my 599 charger for 3 + years on a weekly basis and no problems.

Many other vehicles on ctek and other branded chargers with no problems.

Sorry this happened to you, but a rule of thumb for me is all chargers are unplugged when I leave for more than a day. Forget about the car, think about what can happen to your house.

$700 for a lead acid battery?! Are we talking USD here?

    Here's a top quality Bosch S5 battery to suit a California T for £240 / $325. $700 is taking the piss.

Man I would neutralize that and flush it out well. You don't want acid on anything including what's above the battery.
