McLaren. Pull-rod at the front, push-rod at the back and their now traditional butt-ugly paint scheme continues…

I´m afraid Aston Martin is going to have a rude awakening when the season starts.

Or maybe they're hiding something under that extended bodywork o_O

    Agreed. Their car looks "bloated"

it's just bloated from the bird's eye view. They have a very aggressive undercut underneath that upper bodywork...

I like the Mac, the Aston seems so fat by comparaison....but i like the fact that we are looking at diferent forms and shapes frpm the various teams...

    Agree
The Haas gives me strong hopes about our power unit cooling packaging.
Maybe we will be the class of the field this year ( dreaming ?)

Has to be. There is no way they'll make a car with THAT much bloat.

Of the 3 released cars, it's actually the HAAS that has an incredibly slim coke bottle area, much slimmer than the rest.

I know that Newey supposedly asked Honda to slim the engine down even more, but has Ferrari quietly done the same?

For F1 rear suspension teams have favoured pullrod since 2009. The rocker/spring/dampers sit low down in the space front of the gear casette.

In recent years Merc brought the gear cassette forwards and packaged the spring/dampers further back.
With the F1 2022 regs the gear casette has been shifted rearwards, into this space.

Now, McLaren have switched to pushrod at the rear. This places the rocker/spring/damper higher up ahead of the cassette.
There's more room in this area, so it might be a tidier way to package things, at the cost of a small rise in CofG height.

This bigger gain may be in respect to the taller tunnel that sits below the suspension.
It may be easier to get a better angle on the pushrod and/or clear the tunnel with a pushrod.
Both these rods are operating at the same angle, but you see the pushrod has more clearance.

The switch to pushrods in the rear is so strange to me. with these new floors you want to be as low and flat as possible...

It's going to be interesting to see RedBull carrying on with their high rake angle.

They're going low rake now aren't they?

I have not seen/heard or been told of their final decision with respect to rake. I would be hiding that as well. Seems low is better now but its difficult to assess possibly??

I'm with @DF1 on this. I haven't seen anything on RedBulls rake angle either.

don't get me wrong, I'm not using the dummy F1 car painted in red bull colours as anything as what their car philosophy will be. I read somewhere though that for 2022 they would abandon the high rake. Can't recall the source.

not sure if im getting something.. is that two liveries for the McLaren f1 car..? assuming Lando and Daniel get their own livery, which would actually be pretty interesting..
if not, then what is that other car..? FYI.. I do know which one the indy car is.. but whats the other one..?
