This is all way too complex, i'll just drive it with the check engine light on lol
I was the test guinea pig for Wayne's prototype. He sent me a unit with an adjustable voltage screw that I tried for hours and days to find a suitable voltage to fool the ECU, but no luck. DrBob volunteered to carry the project forward, in case the problem was my car, but he has put his car away for the winter. Hopefully, he will pick up where I left off since his car is already wire up for such testing. Kenny, I like your report, but feel you may be the anomaly? I tried your method with no success. And I have tried every combination you can think of to no avail. Swapping Viscovini units, probes, blocking the hole, dangling the sensor and no luck. I think there is something else the main ECU wants to see. No signal voltage would stop the code from being thrown Perhaps it needs to relay a variable voltage? It is interesting that all three probes and exhaust ECU's are the same parts, but the ECU is more particular with the signal for this probe...??? I feel confident that I do not have an actual issue. (or maybe that is a truly dumb statement..LOL) I am running OEM headers with Fabspeed CAT delete pipes, and Nouvalari Sport muffler. Owners who have the Goth unit swear they work and I wish he would come back and chime in, or someone who has one would allow Wayne to take a peek...Bueller??? Anyone willing to take one for the team? I am willing to pay a deposit and loaner fee. For the moment, I removed the annoying CEL and run a scan every so often to make sure everything else is OK.
It might be worth emailing ECUdoctor in Florida to see if they can reprogram so the code doesn’t set Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
I there a difference in USA / EU deisgned 5.2 cars? I know EU cars do not have a center TC ecu, but in mine at least, if you wire the valve open all the time, you will bypass the o2 sensors permanently...... Are the o2 sensors in a different place on USA cars.
That's a good point. I wonder if there is still some exhaust gas flow through the main cat. Would it have any affect on fuel/air ratios? Looking at the WSM, there does seem to be two variations (for the US 5.2). The gas flow is the same as the Euro car. Some US cars have two thermocouple ECUs, some three. The bypass thermocouple is wired directly into the Motronic ECU on some cars, not to a third thermocouple ECU>
The Goth box is the only thing that worked for my 98 F1 car. No idea how or why this is so difficult to figure out, but someone should contact Goth for the secret sauce.
Hey Carmellini so you just removed the CEL check engine bulb from the binnacle? I have a wifi obd connected to the car which makes it very simple to check if any codes are present, but not sure i'd remove the bulb just incase..although i assume if something serious was to happen the SLOW DOWN light would come up
