I posted previously asking advice on how to mount the rear dashcam on a 488 Spider.

I found a REALLY good installer to do this for me and thought I would share the solution.

Billy is the owner of Audio Toyz in Rancho Santa Margarita, CA . They do high end cars, audio, carbon fiber, PPF,. I could not recommend this place more

Looks great. Do you have any more pics of the rear camera install? I'm in LA and looking for solutions to place a rear camera in my F8 Spider. Thanks!

highly suggest Blackvue 900x and the external battery. They made a custom mount for it in the battery compartment.

Also get a program called BlackVue downloader. I think it’s 7 dollars. When your car connects to your home Wi-Fi it downloads all the footage to your computer. PC storage is cheap. Micro SD cards are expensive, especially the ones blackvue uses

I have months of footage for 3 cars and have only 128 GB memory cards. I bought a mini PC for 120 bucks on Amazon as it uses very little power. I bought a 2 TB drive and an external case and keep this on 24/7

I can walk anyone through this.

Thank you for all the info! Yes, definitely a BlackVue - have had those on most of my cars, just never put a rear-facing one on a convertible. Your install looks great. Interesting idea re. the auto-download, will check out BlackVue downloader. Thanks!

here is the link. and the author always responds for tech support. https://apps.microsoft.com/store/detail/9PG28QPV6866?hl=en-us&gl=US

You can’t use just any card as they will fail. The blackvue ones work but are super expensive. The other one that works is the 128gb Samsung Pro Endurance. It’s not expensive and if you have the downloader it’s the sweet spot for memory. Saving you the tons of time as I researched all of this

and when downloaded on your PC, it makes it really easy to view and access footage that you normally wouldn’t because it’s a pain to view from the card. I heard that you can replay the footage and take screen shots of hot girls you drive by…..and send your friends……a friend told me me that, of course.

Yeah, I learnt that the hard way. Bought some super fast cards that supposedly could deal with heat and whatever, but nope, camera rebooted itself after an hour or so of recording. lol.

The only issue with the auto-download is that I live in a high-rise and the car is like 19 stories away from me :) so wi-fi reach will be an issue. Anyway, I appreciate all the info. I'll let you know how it all turns out.

Easy way is to see if there is a communal Wi-Fi network that reaches the garage and your condo both.

Harder way is you could use a Powerline adapter and run loan through the electrical system and have an access point next to your car. Or set up a pc in a locked closet next to your car with an access point connected so it just downloads to that pc without it being hooked to internet. Get a portable, drive.
