I rarely drive in the city, specially not the 308. Yes, I’m very priviliged, I know most don’t have the choice, but living in a small beach side village is the best decision I ever made. Even at the office, we don’t use the airconditioning unless the humidity is too high. 3 sides open up to fresh air; although I must admit we do get pollution from the car park and people passing by smoking (and yes I live up to my name by moving them along if they stop outside our windows or doors). Not TOO many since it is yuppy Peregian

 

So you have air conditioning in your daily car that might go to the city?

For those who can afford driving in the tolled tunnels

 

I prefer the window down fresh air ,always drive the old cars with the window down ..

 

Old cars agreed, however I bet you have windows up, air on when in your new city car when driving in the city.

Well we went and viewd the new C series M....Benz....C200 94k a 1.5l turbo and the 200C 104k 2.0l turbo pus leather trim and other options.............

Might work for Amanda as its a Hybrid.

She LIKED the idea of driving on East Link to the Mt Martha compound and costing her little ............but the East Link pass

Poor salesperson whom replied to the enquiry email.........was pushed aside by the salesman who has sold to the family for over 45 years ...Oh well ..

 

Yep A/C on but the window still down..

The A/C units in the 3 x RR/B cars is cold anyway,only use it on trips into the country , watching the metal outlets frost up is ALWAYS fun .

Has the Sebring A/C?

 

The only time I will ever turn the A/C on is when it's necessary to go to Cairns and only then in the wet/humid season.
You try getting out of a climate controlled car on what about 24ish degrees into 35 with 90% humidity.....sucks the breath right out.
You're far better off in the car with the windows down.

 

great news for you...............afrer GG my plan is to drive to Port Douglas after spending a few days on the Sunshine Coast with Amanda ,then I will drive on and stay 5 nights with friends at Port Douglas............. Then drive back to Melbourne along the coast total kms 10,000 including GG.

 

Yep a bit common also for the reason ^^^.
You're partially climatised and cool where you need to,footwell,fat gut etc!...but not blowing you away when you step out.

 

The coast run is bloody awful,slowing down then quickening up all the bloody way.

Much better drive is the way I go,indeed back to Smelbourne there is a better drive again,it does 30 klm of good dirt road but you go through proper Aussie country towns that need your dosh.

 

I need to put a mortgage on my home to afford to drive around Sydney with all the tolls

 

OK..I shall seek you local knowledge from Sunshine coast to Port Douglas trip..

 

SSC to Port only the coast,no advantage to go any other route.
Port to Smelly quite a few options with the opportunity to cut hundreds of klms off the trip.

From Port The quickest way:
Way points:
Port
,Mareeba
Mt Garnet.
Charters Towers..turn right to Torrens Creek...turn left,onto the 30klms of dirt to Aramac then Barcaldine,
Down to my favorite pub in outback Qld at Cunnamulla,
Over the border to Bourke..you may see Karen sightseeing,
Veer right at Bourke for Cobar..fillup there,
Hillston
Hay
Deniliquin,
Echuca then your choice to Smelly from there.

There can be 2 sections of dirt,one of which is your choice and lops of a full 100klms and is good.
2663 or 2763klms.

The other shorter way than the coast:2754klm.

Back to Melb via Bris and Sydney (many options) 3534klm
