Thanks, Timo. I don't have the courage to try and pull those shields off. Even a friend, who has done bodywork for 30 years, said "don't touch them". I'll just enjoy the car as it is. BTW - all my suspension components are painted black. Done many years ago but definitely incorrect. I don't spend much time under there so I'm not gonna worry about it. At least the load levelers still work and I don't have to replace them with coil-overs to gt rid of the C/4 squat.
If your particular enough to to restore the suspension to original colors, your never going to be satisfied with those shields over time, especially if it's sitting next to any one on the previous page. Find the right shop to remove it and the paint can be matched if needed. A Daytona had them in my area and it just didn't fit.
when the shields so long on the paint then the sun makes the red around the shield different. so when you remove the shiles you always will see where they have been before without repainting
Brian what do you make of this. Clearly cad -- you can see it peeling a little which cad or zinc does not .I have owned the car for 35 years with no previous crash damage and all evidence of previous owners would not have gone to expense of re-plating back then. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I think the speedo is at zero? it shows 10 mph but when I compare with metric speedometers they start not at zero, they start mostly at 10 km/h. also there is a red traffic light, so the car is standing - or not? if not then those 1500 rpm are ok of course
Yes, but the more i got in the GTC/4 details i recognize that the complete design is a masterpiece and from every angle it‘s a drop dead beautiful draft, with fine line, very good proportions and a light elegance which came close to the 250 GT Lusso. Of course two different decades and 60 vs 70 design and the Lusso is an icon of pure 60s beauty but both are elegant par excellence in their own ways.
For some sensational photography on the beauty of these car please go to the sold section of Bringatrailer.com and look at the Marrone C4. Angles rarely depicted in normal photography. These cars are to die for. And they drive pretty good too.
Can't agree more, and besides, the Lusso was a slow car ;-) Below, my beautiful 16075 Image Unavailable, Please Login
Nice one. Swiss car originally. I hope it will soon be brought back to original colors. Marcel Massini
Thank you , yes Swiss ( Savaf) car then Germany, now Malta Colour stays as is which suits her better that the Oro Kelso Concentrating on suspension restoration and required light maintenance including Valve clearance. Car still has the fully documented 79K kilometers and in very good health. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Nero and dark colors suit the GTC/4 and of course beauty is in the eye of the beholder but in my eyes Oro Kelso is one of the „spot on“ colors for the GTC/4 and mindblowing beautiful!
Christian, Blu Scuro is the colour which was done in 2014 when the car was stripped completely and done to perfection ( All documented) . It is in an immaculate state and it would be a real pity to revert to the original now. Besides, I might have done it if it was Marrone metalizzato, but not Oro Kelso especially having the Pelle Orange original interior also in great shape. I am one for having the mechanics and interior in great shape , the external colour is secondary, as long as it is as used by factory. Maybe , when the paintwork starts to crack, I will consider it. But definitely not at the moment. ;-) Blu scuro with the Pelle Orange interiors is a real sight to behold and I love it.
16075 did NOT have a Pelle Orange interior. Pelle is the Italian word for leather. Orange would be Arancia and VM 3104. However, the original exterior color of 16075 was Beige VM 3218 Connolly. And the dark blue color was not painted in 2014. I have personally seen 16075 in the dark blue color in October 1997 already in Switzerland. Marcel Massini
Thank you for the free information Mr. Massini. All the owners' history and service documents, original guarantee booklet and Classiche Certification are with the car and will be coming over together with the car soon when the works I am doing are finished, I will check all then. E so anche benissimo che Pelle vuol dire leather in Inglese. And the exterior was " Oro Kelso " not Beige as you stated. Marcus Bonello
I wouldn't be concerned about the original exterior color, if as you say the Blu Scuro is still in nice shape. Blue looks fantastic on these cars, as does Marrone Colorado. My car, 14633, was originally Marrone Colorado. I have the delivery pictures when delivered to the first owner in Saudi Arabia in 1972. Interior was black with plaid cloth inserts. The car was stripped to bare metal in 1997 by the second owner and painted Rosso Nearco. While I am not big fan of Red C/4's, this car still looks great after 25 years and I do not intend to repaint it. FWIW leave it Blue Scuro (it looks spectacular in your photos) and don't be concerned that the car is not the original color.
