Not in my experience. In my opinion it is a design fault. They made something a precision fit that not only has no need to be a precision fit but every reason to be a little sloppy. Transmissions create debris and they need to be tolerant of it.
Thank you for your reply. Your diagnosis makes perfect sense. The shifter is literally frozen into place after car is warmed up. It's gotten worse over time. What do you recommend as far as correcting this problem? The car is going back to the shop this week or next.
Yes. I agree! Proper diagnosis is the key ! That has been the problem now going on 8-9 years. That is why I am here asking for any and all advice, including yourself. As you most likely realize, I am not a mechanic. I don't need to know how everything works. I'm just very frustrated and just trying to think this through. I have spent all day printing out old threads , reviewing posts, service invoices and trying to see what else can be done. I'm meeting with my mechanic this week. This member had similar problem with his 360 and has since sold it. I didn't notice this conversation in my messages. I'm not on this site too much anymore. "Ben, just found this out, in my manual 6 speed 360 , having the same issue as you is now sitting at Pocono Sportscar and they found out that there is a brass bushing in the actuator that, expands when hot, and grips the selector rod too tight causing the hard shifting, they are in the process of reaming it out just a bit to fix the issue, relatively inexpensive....fingers crossed....thought you might like to know........." I didn't find out if this helped anything. I'm grasping at anything right now. I'm even considering buying used F1 trans and putting internals into my unit. And btw I appreciate your help. Thank you.
Quit looking to a bunch of nameless strangers of unknown knowledge on the internet and take it to a good mechanic. It sounds like it has been to several people, at least one took it out and apart and a few times pronounced fixed. I really do not understand all that. Diagnosis ends when the car is taken apart and the Witch hunt starts. It really does not sound like it has yet been in the hands of someone who understands how transmissions work but I bet every single one charged you. Find someone who is not only ethical but good too. Does it do this in every gear? Or?
I see you’re in Boca. Have you tried taking it to Danny at Modena Eurosports? There are many good mechanics in the area.
