Had I known that the prices would be what they are today I still would have sold my 355 Fiorano years ago. I get bored easily and there are just so many cars I want before I get too old to properly enjoy them.

    No kidding Kenney,
Probably would get close to 6 digits or more right now. I’m specifically not disputing the accident which this car was apparently involved with, but it is astonishing how every Salvage title car I see for sale (eBay & other wise) was only “lightly hit” in the bumper or someone backed into a light pole, etc. I looked at a 360 years ago with a salvage title, that was involved in a “minor accident in the front bumper.” Got it on the rack & it looked like it got hit by a bus.

Nonetheless, I agree that it will easy to ascertain how expensive the real damage was on this car.

    Regards

Thanks for the input @kenneyd @EFerrari34
@GTO Joe - I saw that thread! Car was a Spider, and it was super helpful to see how these cars are put together.

Your estimates are the same as mine.. Not concerened but good to know I can go wild on this thing and still be alright financially.
I can't wait to get started!

Unlike my stock portfolio it doesn’t look like these cars are going down; even despite the Russia mess. Many people “in the know” absolutely believe that the GTB/GTS’s are going the way of the Dino.

Tobacco is much deeper than Cuoio, which is darker than the usual tan.

The cars aren't going up. Like your stocks, your dollars are going down.

It's a just matter of perspective. And was said tongue in cheek. ;)

That chart only means the dollar's value is dropping slower than other currencies.

Agreed, but the US government needs to burn off all that quantitative easing over the last 14 years. My point is that USD will be harder to come by for a lot of people. The "free money" that people are currently using from leveraging their other assets will dry up in the next couple of years.

QT is definitely coming, but in won't be in time before this auction ends :). The entire "Gated Collection" is now up for grabs.

If i was in the position, i would have bid. I prefer one ~without~ a recent major, so I can go through and make it perfect. I also though the paint on that one would be amazing with just a 2 stage buff and ceramic.
    Good to see one driven.

I agree with everything you wrote there. Maybe photographers are catching bad angles, or maybe Ferrari's paint booth is worse than I give them credit for. But I've seen two recently (the other black GTB in VA) that appeared to be orange peeled badly.
That and the bad wheel rash (I know it CAN be fixed) made me wonder about this one.

BUT (big but) if you have the ability to restore/rehab one, this was a good candidate. I just don't think you'd be able to do that and keep it under $200k. So if it is a long term keeper, then go for it! If this is just a fun car for a few years, I'm betting the winner ends up in the crowd that bashes F355 costs.

I'm not sure if I understand the question. Market movers are more interested in car companies than a specific model (new or used). Do I think 95% of people that are looking for a fun used vehicle expect what is coming? No, definitely not.

As I recall, in the not too distant past (80's and 90's) buying British pounds was a very good bet against the dollar. :) Buy pounds in 85, sell them in 90 and you just about doubled your dollars.

Might be a good time to buy rubles. :D

Would you think that celebrity ownership helps it value? Curious

hard to say - i never quite understood the economic value of celeb ownership unless it was a true enthusiast, like leno etc...id say 95% of the value is attributable to the car, maybe more?
