Agreed, but no amount of internet/forum postering will change any of it or the fact that 99+% of people don’t care nor loose sleep over it.

Tons of people have and display fake stuff, be it art, cars, jewelry, tits, watches, etc…and more are created 24/7/365, but again majority of the population do not care.

And don’t even get me started on generally accepted “history” (including subjects much more important than cars) and how much of it I believe to be just utter BS, but hey, it’s in books/magazines, internet and other popular media, so it must be accurate, right ?

Which Ferrari was the fake?

 

I didn't enjoy this one this year like I have in the past 12. Too many gripes to list but I'll keep going because this is always something I look forward to. Weather was fabulous.

I just wish they would let non-guests back into the hotel again. I have always enjoyed eating lunch at Salt. I have a bad feeling they will continue this from now on, covid or not.

 

I was told that Mercedes pulled because they are bleeding money. This is from a 40 year long employee. They are trimming off any fat they can. It was even more frustrating that MBDC won't even spring for the 3K to put a tent up and gather their marque better on Sat like BMW does. Mercedes were scattered everywhere.

Thats surprising..How are they bleeding money with all their higher end cars sold out?

In a nutshell, the biggest problem they have is dieselgate. It wasn't just VW. They were just the first to get caught. Everyone was doing what VW was doing, that was why no other car company ratted any of their competitors out - which was a point that had not occurred to me until he mentioned it Friday at dinner. The supply chain hit them hard too, like everyone else, which just added misery to the diesel issue. F1 is massively expensive, so much so it has been rumored Mercedes is considering pulling out.

It's a long complicated story and he explains it better than me but the diesel issue was/is the core of all of it.

Plus, nobody buys a new MB anymore. They instead lease it with terms subsidized by MB. It's like the lady who was losing money selling eggs. She decided to make up for it by selling more eggs.

The only "problem" I noticed immediately was the model year date given on the Boxer was incorrectly stated to be 1985.

That Boxer was 50015. My 308 is 50045. Build completion date for my Ferrari was Jan 30, 1984.

But no one cares but me as far as that was concerned.

So which Ferrari was the fakey-do? The 330 P3/4?

Really - the fake breast are like lighted pistons the rest of the chassis etc. are OEM. - fake cars are like a blow up doll nothing original , but hey what ever floats your boat.

 

I wish I had known you were there. I would have loved to meet you.

 

I wasn't in Amelia last weekend. Unless I am really seriously bored I not usually visit Concours showing replicas and fakes.
