Looking for replacement insulation for both the front and rear hoods. Anyone have a source?
Do a search using '"Aeroflex" in this section for prior discussion about the best substitute material that we've identified so far for the rear bonnet chiclet. Not sure about the material for the front bonnet insulation.
Thank you, working through it. I found the correct vinyl for the front and our upholsterer is going to make a roll of material for the front. Still working on the correct stuff for the rear but that may be as close as we get.
We actually make it in house. We have a laser cutter and we simply program in the pattern and away it goes. We would be happy to make you up some.
I made my hood set from a nice tri-perforated Italian leather hyde. Smells fantastic and looks the part. I have enough for one more set if anyone needs.
Here is what our vinyl product ended up looking like. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
For the rear it was sound deadening and was not used for many markets. Many US version cars came without it so it can be just painted black if it suits you. Many of us have looked for something suitable and looks the same as OE and found nothing. There are some black foams available.
In the effort to not be misleading the vinyl is no longer $59 per yard. We initially made a 25 yard run and covered cost by selling it to others. We sold out and are now making 5 yard runs, materials, labor and shipping have all gotten more expensive. Cost per yard including shipping within the lower 48 is $200 per yard. It sounds expensive but there really isn't much profit margin in it. one yard will do two hoods if cut properly.
