Always promised myself that as soon as my car started to become a "garage queen" then it is time to go. Well the car gets taken out about once a month - so it is time to go.

The only item on the car that needs to be fixed is the brake light. I get a error on the dash stating lamp failure, but the light works perfectly fine. Before I purchase a new brake light, can someone tell me if the sensor is part of the light or located somewhere else in the car? Thanks.

It’s a great time to sell, and you can maybe get something that makes you want to grab the keys more. No wrong answer here.

    Why?

Why would getting rid of the last Pininfarina-designed mid-engine normally-aspirated Ferrari for it's non-Pininfarina, turbocharged replacement cause the OP to drive the 488 more? If he is not driving the 458 why would he drive the 488?

This is not to say I don't love 488s - I do - and there is an entire thread on 458 vs 488 - that isn't the point of the thread the way I read it. Point is that the OP is not driving his current 458 so wants to sell it and do something different with the money that he can get more enjoyment out of - could be a different car, motorcycle, plane, boat, island in the Caribbean, replace his entire wardrobe with Prada, 1 Richard Mille watch, 10 Rolex watches, mail-order bride(s) - who knows?? :) :)

From my lens - and being a 458S owner - the simple solution is just to drive and enjoy the 458 more - but that may not be feasible.

    Cheers :)

To answer the question asked "does the rear brake light contain the sensor?" - it does. Turned out to be a capacitor that went bad and cost a whopping $42 to fix.

As far as selling the car, I recently purchased a decent size farm. We have been constantly working on the farm as well as running a side business along with rental property - there is only 24 hours in the day. This car is my fourth Ferrari in twelve years (348, 360, 430 then the 458). It has been fun, but my attention has been focused on other areas now.

I always felt that a car or any other machinery should never just sit. My car has not been neglected by any means, but if I don't sell it, it probably will start sitting. Hope that makes sense.

Can't help you there, but i'd wait till you get the brake recall work done. You are aware of the recall, correct?
