Maybe those are Ferrari's new "Ghost Shields"! Can't imagine the option price of those. Probably NOT lol either!
Hi John, A couple things here. The third photo may be a mistake - it may not be your car. I have heard of others encountering a similar scenario when they got their third photo (no shields in the third picture but when the car arrives it has shields). So do not be surprised if your 812 GTS shows up with Shields when it arrives in the port. This assumes of course that your order was in fact inputted correctly. In the meantime ask your dealer for the sales order from MODIS. It should clearly state the option code LOGO for the normal Scuderia Ferrari Shields or ALOG if you went with the Airbrushed Shields. Ferrari rarely screws up orders. If a build is incorrect it is often due to it not being inputting correctly by the selling dealer. FYI The wheel center caps often are not installed prior to the third photo so do not worry about that. Your car will arrive with center caps I promise Feel free to message me if you have any specific questions about the ordering process or how to read your order in MODIS.
As a 12yr member, this is such an interesting debate, as I've had one with and one without. The "Shield" has become a nexus in the preservation of a brand. I get the debate. It seems like we're asking for a Tattoo. Like if it doesn't have a Sheild it's not a Ferrari. And without one we're not worthy. If your dealer sold it spec'd with the shields and it comes without them, feel free to sell it back. It would sell overnight. I like them without badges. Others do too.
Hi. I have only had the £s to buy used Ferrari but should I sell all my four wheeled toys I could afford a new one. However that would mean of course speccing a car and I would want exactly what I chose to be delivered ...... end of. Tell them to keep the car and give your custom to a Dealer who cares about its customers.
Any suggestions to play hardball with your dealer by refusing delivery are silly. They'd be more than happy to keep the car--they could use it to improve the relationship with a whale or help their business in any number of other ways. Remember, these cars are going for 200k over sticker. If you're comfortable torching the relationship with the dealer (as listening to much of the advice above would do), take delivery and flip it. I wouldn't do that, however. Mistakes happen--they're part of life, and there's no chance anyone in the factory or dealership deliberately sabotaged your order. If the car does arrive without shields, give the dealer a chance to make it right. Use it as an opportunity to enhance the relationship. Or act like a petulant child.
You guys are all cracking me up / it's like a Sports Illustrated cover with or without a Bikini / you're gonna be OK either way Image Unavailable, Please Login
ZFF73SKAXC0188863 is for sale now as an FF out of Chicago as an absolutely stunning NON BADGE / the discussion of whether it was built to spec or not goes on in this thread / but WITHOUT shields is totally fine IMHO / your build sheet will have it or it won't. If it doesn't, don't pay for it. I think it was $1622 on mine. And if it came without, I'd still be fine. Please do not let the badge define the car, as wrong as that sounds.
The My Ferrari App has three build photos of F12. One primer frame, one in its final TdF blue... and one picture of a red car that is not mine. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I recently spec'd my GTS order w/o shields. I have 4 "newer" Ferraris, SA, 599, 458 and F12......all have the shields. IMHO the style of the GTS looks better w/o. As some have said the fender shields seem small on the 812. The larger painted shields do scale better. I also considered re-sale and that many buyers want shields. But this will probably be the last Ferrari I order new. I don't care about re-sale. I plan to keep it as long as possible. I did "spring" for one of the historic colors.......Azzurro Metallizato. Here is the mock-up the dealer sent me. Image Unavailable, Please Login Now you have me worried that they will put shields on the car!! Jus kiddin' Hope you can get this resolved to your satisfaction
Twenty years from now the selection of GTS for sale and at cars and coffee will be epic. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Azzurro Metallizato is amazing.... thanks for the photo... my car has shields but imho I do not believe shields always compliment the car. In this model and color it is stunning without them... the lines of this car are a work of art, thanks for the photo.
Absolutely, get the airbrush shields, however the trend on GT front engine V12’s is the No shields option. Way cleaner on the GTS, hence, David Lee in California. He’s got it down!
Iain..........You caught me red-handed. After spending 2 days looking at hundreds of pages and pictures of 812s in various colors this picture was the one that caught my eye. Good thing this car is in the UK. I wouldn't want the owner of accusing me of being a copycat.
Your dealer is an ass. Of course it can be fixed. Just have them order a set of painted front fenders from the factory with indentations for shields and a set of shields. If they refuse, file a complaint with Ferrari. They are just trying to weasel out of it. Are the shields on the papers you signed? If not, it's a dealer screw-up. Shields are on the order sheet I signed and confirmed. Dealer is looking into the possibility of adding painted shields but no definitive answer yet.
Take it if they offer that. After ordering normal shields I came to the conclusion that the normal shields look very small on the 812. Sent from my SM-G930F using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Fenders painted off the car may not exactly match and they may get scratched up in shipment. Also, not sure but I think the doors have to come off the swap fenders. That would mean having to touch up the bolts/hinges. Try for the painted shields if you're going to keep the car.
