I have to admit that I wasn't sure about the looks of the new F1 cars, but now that we have seen them in action I've become a fan once again of F1 cars! I'm happy that the ugly period is over.

 

AMuS reports that from their sources at Ferrari, the new PU is a bigger step than what we have seen in 2020/2021. They completely focused on getting more power (since the technology got frozen on 28.02.) Ferrari will bring an improved version of the hybrid system in the summer.

I seriously wonder how can one push a car when it's not agile given the increase in weight. Not in reference to the above comment, but in general. The more lighter the car, the more aggressive one can get in close racing, especially around the corners.

 

The new cars are still too big. Take them back to 2000...or better...the 1980s.

May be smoke and mirrors. Also it’s not a bad thing for them to get an idea of what it can really do and how they stack up against the competitors. They certainly have some ideas of improvements and are probably moving on that behind the scenes to an extent. Also, they could make it better, but pasta. Ciao.

There is no reason cars should be bigger than 312T2.

 

Yesterday on French Television live, Charles talked about 5 victories for him this year and to be a title contender if they have enough consistency all year long..
May I dreaming a little please ?

 

The other explanation is that while Merc and RBR were developing their 2021 cars to the end of the season, Ferrari worked only on the 2022 car so to be able to start the season will a fully developed car. In other words, RBR and Merc are a bit behind on their aero development, I believe.

Ferrari already have developments in the pipeline but these will be available after the first couple of races. Right now, and with limited testing and the porpoising issue, it’s best to just learn and properly engineer the car to maximize its performance. Pretty much what they did all of last year—to very good effect—on a car with very little development.

So, I think we can say, so far so good?

 

I would say so. IF the Mercedes problems are real (and that's a big IF), Ferrari at the very least will fight for podiums and probably wins every race. If Mercedes finds their usual silver bullet on the final day or indeed the actual race weekend, then Ferrari is probably demoted to regular podium contender, fighting with Red Bull over the final spot...

 

It seems the Mercedes has dreadful porpoising problems, which seems strange they have not yet resolved

 

I am sure Mercedes playing the joker card. If they can get a new car built for testing to deflect attention, I am sure they are doing something similar to make us believe they have real problems.
It's been 8 years.

That looks so bad. I'm hopeful that they have it fixed by next week.

 

What I am more concerned is how this has an impact on any F1 driver's physical body. I mean, you already have high g-force, keeping body weights under control, high temperatures and now this!!!

 

I agree, the drivers already are in the most unnatural seating position (feet higher than the pelvis), and could now experience motion sickness with the porpoising.
