Looks amazing, it’s the exact paint from this years F1 car apparently

    But, I think it’s around £30,000-35,000?

    It's a matte finish. Therefore I'm not a fan.

I am not normally a fan of matte paint but I think this color looks amazing on the configurator. I guess we will have to wait to see how it looks on an actual Ferrari road car though.

I didn't realise it was matt - I'll be watching the race this weekend so will get a feel for the colour then.

I can't decide between Rosso Corsa, Rosso Imola, Rosso Dino or Gillo Triplo Strato for my 296 (and first Ferrari)

My experience is that it is near impossible to make fine grain choices on the online configurator. Your dealer’s configurator should b pretty accurate from my experience. This is important when differentiating between the reds. I know when I have done this color determination, I scoured the web and this site to get as many pictures of cars with that color and adjacent colors.

Design wise, different reds work much better in bringing out the design lines of the car. They also can hide them. Personally, I have never been a personal huge fan of black for Ferraris with incredible design where you don’t have to hide design inconsistencies.

For example, I picked Blu Elettrico to “clean up” some of the open aero and back of the 812SF. IMO, enough black on the overhanging edges to distract from the design inconsistency. And there was also enough brightness from the purple side tone of the color that it’s brought out the main design story of the 812SF.

I have triple yellow on my TdF. Be prepared for attention. If you don’t want it, avoid driving where there are people and stick to the hills (my preference). It also makes the car look bigger. In the Sun, fantastic. Will look great on 296 IMO.

I ordered Imola on my car. I just like the color. The car has few edges and and simple lines. It’s a car, IMO, that can wear a car that calls a lot more attention to the lines.

If you want to stay in the “red” family and include Dino red, you have to love Dino. And don’t care about resale. Harder to find people who love Dino.

As this car has longer, simpler planes, I would also look at colors worked well on the 458 Italia images you can find.

Of course, all of this IMO and hope it helps.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a detailed reply - it's really appreciated.

I understand what you're saying about the 296 having lines that are worth bringing out - and would probably suit a metallic colour best. It's for this reason that I'm leaning most toward Imola.

This is my first Ferrari however, so there's always going to be this natural pull toward Rosso Corsa. It's just such a fantastic red and really suits the smaller mid-engine cars in my opinion. It's a cliche colour, but it's my first and only Ferrari so it will never feel cliche to me. I'm sure if I had a Rosso Corsa Ferrari 296 GTB in my garage I would not be disappointed...

Giallo is a surprise contender for me. I've never been hugely attracted to yellow cars...but I've seen several photos of the 296 and thought WOW this colour really suits the car. Maybe because it's quite a small car, and the yellow really contrasts nicely with the black of the side skirts and around the rear of the car. I also like the simplicity of yellow with the yellow Ferrari badge and yellow callipers. If I spec'd a yellow car I'd also lean toward silver wheels for a classic look.

Thanks again for your input. Where I live, it's unlikely I will see a 296 before my spec is locked in so I'm going by videos and photos and the opinions of other owners.

    Thanks again.

If you order a matte paint or yellow it'll make the resale more difficult. I have seen matte cars languish on Autotrader for months or even years. Orange too (i.e., Rosso Dino). There are many awesome reds out there. Don't limit yourself to Rosso Corsa as a fall back. Search around for the thread on metallic reds.

Rosso Corsa really suits the 296's long simple flowing lines and as its a FOC colour a bargain. I'd choose Rosso Corsa which will be a dead cert for resale and costs nothing otherwise if I was feeling flush go for Imola. The Triple reds such as Fuoco will also look amazing on the 296.
Is Imola the same cost as Fuoco or cheaper ? If its much less then Imola would be a great choice without paying silly money for paint.

I'm eagerly awaiting seeing any street car painted in this new shade. Personally if ordering a new model right now I'd also inquire about whether F1-75 could be applied in a traditional glossy sheen.

Right. No problem with the colour itself. I'm just not a fan of matte finishes either.

Matte cars generally don’t sell as well but I believe this color might be the exception. Haven’t seen it in person either so it’s pure conjecture but going by seeing the color on their F1 car it looks stunning. If Ferrari wins the world driver’s and/or constructor championship this year, which looks like a high probability early on, I think it might make it more desirable than typical matte finishes.

Rosso Fuoco in the past has been £15k in the UK. Now, there are 5 non-metallic paints that are free and all other paints are £15k+.

I'm not sure where you got the £15k figure from. The charge for the paints in the UK breaks down as follows - Classic colours (PNCC), Ferrari historical colours (PNTH) and Special colours (PNTN) are £7,104 incl VAT. Additional colours (PNTA) are £3,552 incl VAT. Rosso Imola is a PNTN colour so £7,104.

The 3/4 layers paints (PNTE), 2 layer special paints (PNTO), and Maserati paints (PNTM) will be the more expensive options.

Got this from the dealer this week for an upcoming 812 GTS. So either prices have changed or dealer is lying.

Yes I have the price list too but believe this is a new change. Ask your dealer.
