    Hello,

    Any suggestion on how to replace/repair this?

    I believe the boot could be found, but I think it would be risky to de-pin the connector. Image Unavailable, Please Login

    I suggest buying a can of black liquid vinyl (Plasti Dip or Liquid Tape) and painting an even coat over the top of the entire boot.

    Taking the connector apart and back together is not a great big deal. It may take a trip to the electronics store to buy one of the several special tools for the job. See if you can get the boot. Lots of people here can talk you through taking the connector apart.

    Look on the Porsche forums. The 928 used a similar ignition module and connector boots..

    In addition to what RD is stating; here is a pic of type tools to use, the red handle one is what I have used to remove the pins from a similar plug. The other is an example of a tool you might find at an electronic store and will work also. In the pic are 2 boots that I have, they are 46mm and the smaller one is 39mm, not sure which you would need. you are welcome to have these; send me a PM with your address and I will send to you. The pins are easily removed, there probably is a youtube vid on the process.

    This connector is not the usual fastin faston seen in our cars, but the boot lolks like a TE. As you do not have access to digikey (US) or TME (Europe), you may try 3waycomp in the Uk

    As far as the connector is concerned it's a no brainer to me: I cut the harness and replace the whole connector.
