I'm surprised it's not gone after 3 days / no Badge looks better imho

 

Great color but 5 owners, “high miles”, lower spec (no lift, passenger display, ac seats, carbon etc), sticky buttons so I think prob lasts a few more days

 

No shields just looks so much better.

 

It is funny, so many Ferraris have shields these days that I think a future trend will be buyers trying to find the cars optioned without the shields.

 

Just got my photos from the factory and no shields on the order like my order spec was placed. Spec sheet shows LOGO for order options, but order sheet doesn't show it. So I'm thinking I'm out of luck. I know some like it without, some don't. I personally think it brought some balance of the yellow brake calipers and if I wanted the inconspicuousness of no shields, I would have chosen some different color options. Besides the reduction in the price, which is the only bonus of this situation, has anyone had any success with other consolations from the dealer or Ferrari for their omission?

 

Car is here no Sheilds and no shields on window sticker. Sorry for the poor pics

Dealer is trying to see if they can get the shield stencils to have someone here paint them.

First off, oh my gosh your car looks amazing! I don't even think their is a need for shields I think it looks quite unique without it. Secondly, IF resale is a consideration of yours I would be hesitant about air brushing the shields on by anybody that is not the factory. I have a feeling that they may deter future buyers, more than the car not having shields at all. Just a thought.

 

car looks awesome man! i'd call it a win--and mentally add them your list of people who "owe you one."

All other details correct? Had a buddy once say, you buy a car based on the exterior but you keep it based on the interior. Makes sense as we spend 90%+ in the car driving. If that turned out right I would run w it. You can always add them at a speciality shop (painted) later. Plus the owe you so the next model u want or trade, u should have a chip in hand.

 

I get the opinions that it looks great. I agree (Now) that it does. It's taken me some time to review a bunch of examples and I do like the clean look with no shields. However, when it's not what you ordered and you spent the time making all of the other design decisions to your exact liking and were expecting everything you asked for and are paying for everything, it's a disappointment on that basis alone. It never goes away that "something" is missing.
I'm going to keep mine for 2 simple reasons. #1 you can't see the shields while your driving it and #2 there's no way in hell I'm going to let the dealer who screwed it up, make there profit on the car that it will certainly get. If it bothers me that much, I'll enjoy driving it for the year and sell it.

John congratulations......your car is absolutely stunning and doesn't need shields at all IMHO
specially do not let the dealer to get the shield stencils to have someone there paint them......if you won't have the car really screwed up
the problem is not having the stencils, I can send you tomorrow, but then paint them. Personally I will let only Zanasi to do it on my car!!
but if you really want them the only way is to ask the dealer to get new fenders from Maranello

Have them paint calipers black so you won't miss yellow, in case you were originally looking for a match.

 

The car is beautiful but I'm with the OP on this one - the shields are necessary to pick up the yellow from the calipers.

Having said that, the 812 needs painted shields as the enamel ones are too small. So the serendipitous upside from this is that the dealer and/or Ferrari will have to make this up to him by painting the shields on. And it would be worth showing goodwill by paying the cost of enamel shields as originally ordered if Ferrari approved shields can be painted on.

The factory screw up is the universe's way of telling the OP that he should've ordered painted shields in the first place

 

have them send your fenders back to the factory to have the shields painted on. This way the paint color will match etc versus them sending new fenders.

 

I was talking to my dealer about this and he confessed that they had to do this when they missed off the shields from an order, it was an expensive mistake and cost them around £18,000 and added a 3 month delay to the cars delivery.

To my eye it looks just as good without them, but if you want them, get them agree to send the wings/ fenders back in the winter when you don't need the car, assuming they will agree to this.

 

Keep in mind that half the stuff ordered locally comes damaged. This would be coming from Europe and there would be two that need to be boxed up and shipped across twice without damage that requires a repaint and yet more delay including potential new paint not matching.

Then you have to also hope both fenders are removed from the car and reinstalled without damage. Too much risk if you really think about it. The car is what it is. I would trade no shields for the car to be delivered in perfect condition without paintwork. Maybe either reject it risk free and walk or accept and flip in under a year if it still bothers you that much.

 

I wouldn't go this route, the fenders wouldn't match. There are variations on paint batches and that only gets compounded with triple layer.

As far as I can see it options are as follows:
1) You accept car as-is maybe get some carbon freebies thrown in
2) You discuss a priority allocation, dealer takes car in and sells at huge mark-up
3) Dealer offers your car in exchange for someone else's allocation that hasn't been built yet

 

I think something must in the translation. What I ment to say is :- take the OP fenders off [ called wings in England] and crate them off to the factory for painted shields, this has been done before, so there will no problem with paint match as they came from the OP's car. Sorry for the confusion.

Overpriced for the spec at current market
