The size of the current cars is grotesque.

 

Maybe future cars will be non-distinguishable from today's trucks(lengthwise), if this continues.

 

F2004 size was perfect !

 

So Binotto stated they will have to be cautious with their own development program because of the budget cap.
Basically the car is the same since Barcelona test.
On the other side Mercedes and Red Bull planned two big step since Bahreïn GP.
At Imola the two teams will have completed 4 stages of development since the Barcelona tests..

Yep...Going back to 1800mm width and imposing a <680kg weight (if sticking with current ECO engines) will solve this. Currently, because of the high minimum weight, the penalty of a long wheelbase (extra weight) is erased. The advantage of a long wheelbase is more aero, and more stable aero. A low minimum weight would see them make much smaller wheelbase cars to get as close as possible to minimum weight.

100%. I will never, ever understand the move to 2000mm cars. The only thing it did was make cars look good. The reason we got rid of wide cars in the first place was to increase overtaking...lol

Carlos admitting that Charles is faster straight out of the box.

 

He seemed literally schocked right after the last Gp.
Obvioulsy he didnt understand how Charles was so quick during the last race..

 

Is Sainz admitting he is #2 already though ?

 

Last year he said Charles speed was surreal..

Greetings All - I'm kinda new around here, but have been a huge Ferrari and F1 fan for roughly forty years. The fight for the title last year was unlike anything I've ever seen, with the title not decided until the last lap of the last race, but that is a discussion in another thread I'm sure.
I would just like to say I am extremely excited about the prospects for the 2022 season. It seems clear that F1 has succeeded in their primary goal of making it easier to follow another car, which has already led to some thrilling racing. The Scuderia has built a wonderful and fast car that, I think, will give both Charles and Carlos a great opportunity to truly fight for the championship. I am SO looking forward to each and every race, and how this season will unfold.
I fully expect that Mercedes will get on top of their issues and will soon be in the fight for podiums and wins.
Clearly, Red Bull and Max are going to be the one to beat for the title, as they also have a very fast car.
I am also so very happy with the start the Haas team has had to the season. While I feel some sympathy for Nikita Mazepin losing his drive, Haas filling that set with KMag is doing them a world of good, and will also be good for Mick in the long run.
I won't babble on any more, but look forward to joining the discussions and cheering for the Scuderia to set the church bells ringing in Maranello on Sundays, and to bring home both trophies at the end of the year.

That's a good admission. I think Leclerc is the best remedy against Verstappen, but he needs a good car.

As long as Ferrari gives him a competitive car (I didn't say superior) he will be a title contender.

These days, you cannot perform miracles if the car is just so-so.

 

This is what Charles has been trying to do the last couple yrs and a reason for some of his shunts. He knew he had a so-so car. Points were not really that important to Ferrari, so as any competitive driver would do in this situation he went for broke on occasion.

 

But it seems that this year, he has at last a car worthy of his talent.

 

and I should add that on a few occasions he actually did pull off some miracle laps.

 

In karting I followed them a bit and Sainz was clearly at an inferior level to Leclerc. In formulas Sainz won the F-Renault V6 3.5 but with a not so impressive grid. Leclerc won all the main single seater championships, either at his first or second season.

Last year Sainz drove almost flawlessly but also got luck. In normal condition, I have no shadow of a doubt that Leclerc beats Sainz.

Sainz is the best number 2 a team can have!

 

I’m planning to travel to Italy in September for the Italian Grand Prix and looking for information on Ferrari events celebrating its 75 year anniversary. Does anyone know if there will be anything in Maranello before or after the Grand Prix? Would appreciate any information since I’ll be flying in from California and I’m about to book travel. Grazie.

 

Wow, that picture literally puts things into perspective. I had no idea they were so much bigger now than before.

Fair enough in the flesh they probably still look tiny, but I don’t see a reason for them to need to be so large now?

Sainz is fast and solid.

But Charles is faster

 

This pic was 2 years ago. Alonso got to drive his R25 at Yaz Marina in the day time and at night. The night time run on soft tires (red banded) Alonso did a time of a 1:19 and change which equalled Lewis Hamilton fastest lap at the same track in 2019.

Renault R25 vs Renault RS20.....15 years difference.

i have to admit i was shocked,
i 3ven had to google it to confirm that it is true, i haven't seen live F1 cars for 5+ years

 

Probably that Mercedes and Red Bull have planned a proportion of their budget for development.

Ferrari may prefer spending that budget on Lambrusco perhaps?
