Hey folks, anyone got a clock for a 308 they want to sell? I know i got a better chance asking for your first born, but putting it out there. Thanks Dean
Eurospares says it's a factory order, that's as good as saying we don't have any and the factory doesn't either.
Good luck unless you're an clock expert. It's totally different from 124 and 308. Face and knob are not the same. There's an outfit in Los Angeles charged me $350 just to get my Fiat Dino clock to work. Had to wait for 3 months. It ran for a week and died after that. Now to make it runs, I have to knock hard on the dash a few times. I don't bother to send it back afraid they will want more money. You better off find a correct running clock may be from Big Tex. $500 for a good clock might be a bargain.
I have two...as is.....no warranty....$500 They are 'correct" early Blue/white hands 308GTB units...I will have to find them, after Houston Art Car Weekend!! See you on Monday...
I would take Big Tex up on his offer. Spent the last month looking for one myself. eBay priced for working ones is $600-800. I have one that I am replacing the crime ring and the set knob on, that one was $300 because it’s functioning, but needs cosmetic work.
If you’re feeling adventurous, and have spare time, the thread on doing this is here: https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/308-clocks.290507/page-2#post-144460409 Having had a go, it is all rather fiddly, but I did get my clock going with a few drops of proper watch lubricant. The pivots get gummed up after 40 odd years. and you maybe better just buying from bigTex…… good luck. Mark.
Go digital just kidding but if you go to Midwest Bayless for a lot less you can just have the arms and the outer ring swap if you still have the original. https://www.midwest-bayless.com/p-21916-4227847-oe-blem-clock-veglia-analog-quartz-fiat-124-spider-oe-nos-blemish.aspx Or this, original: https://www.ebay.com/itm/274756757678
If the clock runs after banging it, there is a good chance that it will start running if you pull the knob out (or maybe push it in, just which ever direction you need to set the clock)(make sure you pull-or-push it all the way) and give the knob a few good jiggles. Turns out that those old clocks have a mechanism to "restart" the clock, and the mechanism relies on an electrical contact in the knob mechanism. That contact can oxidize/corrode, and need a little "scraping" to get it working again...
I saw that one on eBay for $750....but c'mon, we are friends here!! Besides. a Texans word is legal and n=binding, south of the Red River.. OK guys, damn, a break from Art Car Weekend while I dig in the tool box!! Brb......
Here's what I got....$500 plus shipping, to Canada...which I recall with some wheels was quite troublesome. Hopefully this smaller package will be easier... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I am putting a hidden switch for the clock in my Dino 246 so I can turn it off. No need for it to run 24/7/365/decades.
