Who will stop it? The Isle of Man is an autonomous British crown dependancy which has its own government, and its own laws.

The TT is not on any world championship, thus out of reach from the nanny rules of the FIM; it is self regulating.

It's a big source of income for the small island (apart from being a tax heaven), and one of the last true road races, the others are in Ireland.

The TT is very popular among riders and every year it refuses entries from the thousands who apply to race there, fully aware of the danger.

So why should it be stopped, and who would do it?

It's definitely a crazy race...I'd love to go see it one day. Everyone I know that went there says the same, utterly amazing to watch.

I don't think it should be stopped though, and doubt it will, it's a big event for IOM. Everyone that races it fully knows the risk, yet still do it.

I hope they don't. Every rider has the choice to show up and ride and every one of them knows the risks.

Actually almost none of the top level guys (thinking of the likes of Hickman, Harrison, McGuiness, Hutchinson, The Birchalls etc.) are remotely aggro, adrenaline junkie, nutter types. Very brave and compelled to race no doubt, but In fact they're all pretty mild-mannered, intensely focused, technically astute, and keenly aware of the dangers and drive accordingly. Even the bull-like Michael Dunlop I wouldn't put into that category...

If you think TT riders have a deathwish, you might as well say the same about Fangio, Clark etc...
    Nonsense.

Lots of spectators die too, unfortunately getting caught up in the moment, trying to emulate the racers. I've been there to watch a few times in the past, and my grandparents used to go every year. On Mad Sunday, you see all kinds of crazy riding - speed limits only in town, otherwise go for it! One year (1982), I was riding up in the mountains around 6am, above the cloud layer, when a racer was testing his race bike, came hurtling past me at a crazy speed, over a blind hill, wrong side of road - with no helmet!!!
If you are into motorcycles, it's definitely a gotta go, gotta see, gotta ride it (somewhat slowly!!). Nothing compares to it.And the people there are so awesome too - you may even bump into Nigel Mansell :) Even the ferry ride over is fun.

Lol!!! He can spin the car, but not the top.
Glad Mazespin took it as a joke. Was wondering if he would call his dadda to deal with Gunther.
