Good but bittersweet day for the Scuderia today..... It really seems that the Scuderia has "the package" this season. :) I hope they can capitalize on the other teams' early races' misfortunes...... ;) And Russell second in the championship for now is the "Icing on the cake". So what was up with Ric. Seemed like he was just content to sit behind Lando the entire race. It does show that these cars can follow fairly closely without tire degradation

Like Vettel he lost his motivation I guess, time for both to retire and let drivers like Piastri or Pourchaire take the seats.

BTW.... and to the dismay/frustration of many ..... I can acknowledge when I am wrong. ;) Having said that...... I was WRONG about Charles [he does have the skill and talent] ...... and Carlos is still my favourite. :)

Leclerc on track to being a Ferrari legend. **** commentary from Sky mocking him for caring about the fastest lap point and asking him if this was his easiest victory. Gutted for Sainz.

Driver of the day goes to Charles. Team of the day goes to Williams for the excellent strategy call to get a point.

Only slight criticism of the race: for all of the work to redesign the cars, I mostly saw the ability to follow closer but not a ton of passing. The race order was pretty close to qualifying, minus the dnf cars and some safety car reshuffling. Is the racing really so different from previous years (minus the changing of the guard at the top)?

I don’t know that they were trying to be antagonistic. Leclerc was calling for fastest lap before Alonso pitted. He was prescient and thinking ahead, everyone else (Ferrari included) were watching what was happening at the time.

Easiest victory comment was regarding the gap he developed, even before Max went out.

Anybody know where the podium was recorded? Was trying to watch on F1 TV and the race broadcast didn't show the podium and I haven't seen it in the post-race recording either?

Yes I noticed and posted earlier - the DRS train was no different than in the past. There is hype about the new season. Less dirty air has not really yielded much in a DRS train as was evidence today.

+1 I did not sense anything bad about his interviews at all. He never really had a threat from Max. Max admitted so much as well. He knew Ferrari with Charles were tough to pass or beat overall.

Sainz steering wheel was not programmed correctly(his replacement) wheel - caused the start downgrade/anti stall.

Ricci was told not to pass Norris. Norris had engine temp issues as did LH.

    I congratulate Charles.

The way I saw the race, Russel put in a stellar lap while Hamilton pitted, and then pitted into the lead (of Hamilton) and Hamilton decided not to fight.

I, for one, was glad to see Max get another DNF.

It is true that the problems for Carlos and Max boosted Russell and Hamilton from a more probable 5 and 6 to 3 and 4. But that is also racing. The fact is that Carlos made a very bad start, and in the end took himself out. But the other fact is that Mercedes is working hard, and neither of their drivers made mistakes and they didn't have a mechanical dnf. RB is still barking at Ferrari's heals, but Mercedes could very easily make the right improvement that turns this into a real three way race. Ferrari and their drivers can never relax and feel confident until the championships are assured by the points they have actually won. This season may well come down to the final race. Considering the engine that Alfa uses, they should have been fighting with Mercedes for P4. And Haas should also be doing much better. There was a reason that Magnussen was originally let go...and Schumacher just isn't showing that he's got what it takes to be in F1. Haas should bring in Andretti to run the show.

I know.....after the 2nd wheel.was installed Sainz hit the anti-stall button 2x right before the start which is why he lost alot of places to include the hard tires.

Karun Chandhok showed an in-cockpit view of everything at the start.

This isn’t meant as a slight against Hamilton, but I have a question: Have the Sky commentators ever asked him if it was his easiest victory after lapping the rest of the grid? I don’t think so, and the double standard is glaring.
