“Yes, we repainted the car to repair cracked buttress.”
BaT is totally insane. I have no idea what people are thinking. The auction format must create a condition of temporary delusion in some people. A Tubi Evolution from Eurospares is $3K shipped to the US. BaT is like buying food in an airport, it's an alternative economy.
I don’t know. I bought this today. Bargain! https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1999-lexus-ls400-16/?utm_source=transactionalemail&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=bat_tagged_comment#comment-8318339 Look at comps and history of LS on BaT. I think I stole it! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I think in large part some people don't bother doing so much as a google search for whatever it is they're looking for. If they did, they'd never pay some of those prices, not just on BaT but anywhere.
Just picked up a 21k mile 1 owner 2004 ES300. These two will pair nicely. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Wild. I just picked up a red/black '94 GTS with ~36k miles and a fresh major and now trying to figure out how much to insure it for - if the above is true, mine is likely a $200-250k car?
Yeah, getting insurance to get up to that level will take a bit. Hagerty will for sure, but will cost. They don’t react as fast to values as they should in my opinion. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I don't worry about insurance value. I just want to get out what I have in it is the car were totaled. Of course, if you buy at these inflated values that's another issue. And that itself will probably drive some out of the market.
I would obviously prefer to insure the car for its current value rather than what I have into it. If the car gets totaled and you wanted to replace it with a similar car, insuring it for the $70k you bought it for 4 years ago would do you no good in this crazy inflated market.
I don't insure it for an agreed value. I have regular insurance which pays ACV at the time of the loss. Now, there may be an argument of what ACV is, but that's another issue. But it's pretty apparent that ACV is a lot higher today that it was in 2013 when I bought it so I'd would be fine. These days Hagerty says a condition 2 1995 spider is worth about $126,000, condition 3, $87,000. I'd be happy in the middle. As for replacing it, I don't replace broken toys.
