Hi - I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions for Wales? We (wife, four boys 3-9) are flying in and out of London (got a direct flight from PDX) in August. We will be there about 12 days. We'll spend about 3 days in London and then spend the rest of the time in Wales. I was hoping for great suggestions on scenic towns to stay in and places to see? Mostly looking for scenery, parks, maybe a few kids things. Any and all help welcome. Thanks! Jesse
Visit The Big Pit, a coal mining museum. The kids (and you) will love it. Lamps on and a trip underground to learn about Wales main industry, now sadly lost. Sent from my iPad using FerrariChat
Which end of Wales ? Up north is the world's fastest quarry ride https://www.zipworld.co.uk/location/penrhyn-quarry - in the south west St Davids is pretty and halfway is the atmospheric Portmeirion where the Prisoner was filmed - lots of big castles along the coast too None of which are much use for the children but there are huge sandy beaches.... RAF main musuem at Cosford is sort of in Wales
The Ferrari Owners club have a big event in North Wales this year. Just one of the many events planned over the weekend is The Pirelli Tour of Anglesey Saturday 23rd to Monday 25th July 2022 if you get there early ?
stay here. fantastic place; spent a weekend there with 20 other ferraris. https://portmeirion.wales/ not sure how old the kids are but personally ive been wanting to go to zip world mentioned above for ages and do the go karts and bounce. if you are into biking; lots of mountain biking about for all abilities and rentals available. if you are planning on stopping off between london and wales say as we can offer suggestions of things to do/places to stay as well.
Great thanks i'll check out the link now. Yes we are thinking at least one stop between london and wales. suggestions would be great.
if you are looking london/south wales, castle combe will likely have something on https://castlecombecircuit.co.uk/ local hotels that are particularly nice; castle coombe manor hotel and whatley manor hotel. this is my local neck of the woods so any details let me know Bath is also a very nice stop on the way! if london to north wales, silverstone circuit and the museum there. north cotswolds; which is a region is very nice.
Bath is a neat stop, as well as Bristol. Suspension Bridge and SS Great Britain display in Bristol. https://www.ssgreatbritain.org/ https://cliftonbridge.org.uk/
Anglesey and the Menai strait area are very pretty (North Wales) and there are quite a few castles to visit that may appeal to your boys https://www.visitwales.com/destinations/north-wales/isle-anglesey/ten-things-do-anglesey
We'll be there early July, plan is London probably two nights, Cotswolds a night or two and then Cornwall for the rest. This was the trip I wanted to do in summer 2020 (this or NZ for Christmas 2020... ).
Redeye out 7/1 and back 7/10. Virgin; direct there, a layover in Detroit on the way back. So, ~8 days on the ground.
Jeremy Clarkson's farm is on the way between London and Wales if you fancy a visit https://diddlysquatfarmshop.com/
Hi, If your going to the Cotswolds Broadway ( https://www.broadway-cotswolds.co.uk/ ) is very nice, and there is a great park behind the high street that the kids will love, I take my nephew 9 and niece 6 there during the school holidays, take a picnic and also get some great ice-creams and other snacks from the shops on the high street. You could always try this for something different ... https://www.biburytroutfarm.co.uk/ There is a super pub near buy for lunch..... There is a lot to cover and some great suggestions on here, Enjoy the trip .....
Plenty to see and do in Cardiff, the centre and castle is good as is Cardiff Bay. I second Bath as a place to visit en route, only 15 mins off the main M4 motorway to Wales. Head for the Gower, just past Swansea for amazing beaches or a bit further is Tenby, stunning little town, try to get an overnight there if you have the time. I am Cardiff based, happy to give you a guided tour.
