Actually, you got that wrong as well.

Cars were the first EVs back in the 1800s.

The GM EV1 was not sold back in 2014.

    ***
Look, I'm not saying you should be forced to buy an EV, heck, I'm not even saying it's right/wrong/good/evil, etc. (ironically it's other folks that keep P&R up, certainly not me)

If the world bans cigarette smoking in an office, I'm not saying it's good/bad/right/wrong.

All I'm saying is if you're in the interior deodorizing business, you may want to look at something else.

I'm merely quoting his son. Is there some cardinal sin quoting what somebody said?

No problem, write what you want,
I'll just give you my opinion !
They were lucky to have LCDM, because otherwise there would be fruit and vegetable plantations in place of the factory for a long time.

I think he's referring to your use of the quote as irrefutable fact that his opinion is factual evidence of what someone who is not alive would say about something that never existed in his life. And this being an opinion of an owner in the company selling the cars. Its hard for you to see what others here are saying. Its not really about EVs at all. The premise of the argument is poisoned by the conflict of interest.

John Elkann et al. have determined to squeeze all of the yeast out of the dough of the Ferrari we knew. This end game was inevitable from October 21, 2015 when Ferrari S.p.A. shares were first offered for public sale.

Very good post. I know we disagree alot in p and r. But I think your absolutely on the right path here.

My only concern moving forward at the same rate of growth is whether or not there will be enough battery production. I think it could be a bottle neck for growth. Now companies are spending billions to avoid it... We will just have to hope they can manage to do it.

I mean how many takata air bag recalls have there been? How many gm transmissions have **** the bed? How many decades has Ferrari built cars with sticky buttons and pulling dashes?

How soon before California realizes the magnetic fields of these electric cars causes cancer (just like cell phones causing brain cancer) and recalls them all. That is provided they aren’t recalled for the 4 days of unextinguishable fires they cause in all the new accidents these cars will be in( but wait, isn’t self driving electric cars going to prevent it from happening?)!

Oh man, you must not have been around when something called the Pinto existed. Heard of the Suzuki Samarai? Audi 5000? Hell, even Toyota was not immune from 'defects' to the gas pedal.

    Check out Ralph Nadar.

Nothing new, and progress/time stops for no one. One can accept this fact of life and adapt, or I guess they can always go the way of Lynch's Straight story. I admit, there is a romanticism in it that can bring a tear to my eye.

LCDM ruined the marque. He exploited it as a brand. He introduced the side shield option which were once reserved for factory team cars. He introduced limited edition cars. Ferrari never had limited editions before him, they just built as many cars as they could in a model run. Look at the 288 GTO and F40.

Yes, Luca sold Ferrari’s soul! He cared more about merchandising and branding.

And it has now gone so far down the slippery slope, after doing away with the manual transmission, that most here accept an SUV and an electric.

I would rather see a fruit and vegetable farm than what it has become.

You're hilarious - IMO Luca's actions were always in the best interest of the brand period

I find you quite hard with LCDM.
When he took over the management at the exit of Fusaro, the state of Ferrari was catastrophic at all levels...
Even if everything is not perfect, he relaunched the brand with legendary cars, in the purest state of mind of its founder, and he was very concerned about that. He multiplied partnerships with Italian companies, because he was also a proud patriot of his country and its culture. If you watch the video of his departure in front of all the employees, you will understand that the emotion was real on both sides. I have rarely seen this...
When he arrives at Fiorano for the 60th anniversary, with Nikki Lauda in his 360 barchetta donated by Agnelli, he is given a rock star ovation by the owners.
When Marchionne crosses Fiorano on foot for the 70th birthday, no one comes to shake her hand...
And today, Vigna, I don't think anyone knows who it is...
LCDM embodied the continuity of Enzo's work, and the scudetti are a detail compared to what is happening today.

As a part of the agreement, Qualcomm Technologies and its partners will also work with Ferrari to design, develop and integrate Ferrari’s digital cockpits.

Qualcomm Technologies will begin serving as a Premium Partner of the Scuderia Ferrari Formula 1 team at the start of the 2022 FIA Formula One World Championship™ race season where Snapdragon will be featured on the new Scuderia Ferrari’s F1-75 single-seaters. utterly pointless and a non-sequitur
    a revisiting of:
    https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/posts/148191813/

Euro7 will not only further diminish allow CO2 (which is the entire point of 'Synthetic/Green Fuels' aka balance carbon 'produced' by re-using atmospheric carbon) but regulate (for the first time) trace gases (NH3,etc) of which so-called Synthetic Fuels will continue to produce post-combustion...but such fuels will never be used in road cars at least not the "targeted ones", it would simply be a bizarre trading scheme where X-amount of Synthetic fuels are produced and imported and sold, where? who knows but at 10x the price or more of existing petroleum fuels...the whole thing makes zero sense

not to mention the timeline to production of said fuels is so pathetic it will not scale sufficiently, etc. About 500m liters expected PER YEAR in 2025(maybe), that will fill 80% of a single ULCC tanker

    AND

most importantly, the EU has not agreed to any such idea...

Besides, Elkann has already proclaimed (last August) that Ferrari can't wait to embrace an all electric future, then (via his proxy, Vigna) publicly and humiliatingly fired Leiters, their resident V12 expert, and did not replace him...

Ferrari boss John Elkann embraces an electric future
EU ICE ban? 'We see the regulation as welcome,' with first Ferrari EV aimed at 2025

    https://www.autoblog.com/2021/08/02/ferrari-john-elkann-electric-cars/

I do not believe Ferrari has any concern about the V12's future, from what it appears, it is already over...

Ferrari all electric...excuse me while I throw up in my mouth. It's bad enough they did away with manual gearboxes...one of the joys of driving, clicking through a gated shifter. The sound of the engine as you go through the gears, listening to the change of the engine as your rpm's climb...to be replaced with silence and a floppy paddle. Color me no thanks. I'll enjoy my dino, and laugh at the morons driving these silent, soul less machines, that no longer embrace what what Ferrari's great at one time.

I understand but unfortunately they have no choice in moving to EVs as 50% of business revenue is EU sales.

Not sure what makes a "true Ferrari fan" or real enthusiast? If you're a purists at least the racing and track focused cars will likely have ICE engines for another decade or so, and the factory is returning to the top class at Le Mans.

It terms of the Chairman he doesn't like racing and is only interested in increasing market cap. He is jealous of the new EV players whose wealth has eclipses his so he views the transition to EVs through that lens only.

Astonishingly short sighted by Ferrari to let such talent, to a direct competitor no less. Granted the job at McLaren is perhaps only dwarfed by job at hand at Aston Martin....
