355 Tubi Muffler Install

How many hours does it take to install a Tubi muffler?

Same as any muffler. If you have a lift, 2-3 hours. At home with a floor jack, a little more. Really helps to have another person to get the bumper off and on.

 

Thank you. How about installing a set of manifolds? I was going to wait to do the engine out but I'm getting impatient!

Not a hard job but requires patience. Plus, mine was a 2.7. A 5.2 may be a little different. If the engine is coming out soon and the current header are good, wait.

I don't know if that's a compliment or an insult. Kind sounds like you're setting the bar pretty low.

 

It's not just that he did it as a centenarian, it's that he's a grumpy centenarian, not one of those happy-go-lucky ones who's grateful just to still be around.

 

355 muffler about 4 hours after adjustments if needed to get those tips centered.

Manifolds..NO need to remove engine. But cooling fans and a couple wire harness clamps need to be removed for that extra bit of room. 12 hours for the first timer..8 if you have done a few..

 

Will agree with half a day.
Get a second set of hands when removing and installing the rear bumper.
Use generous amounts of penetrating fluid on the exhaust bolts.
For adjustments of the rear bumper when reinstalling, cut a piece of cardboard into strips to create a spacer shim between the bumper and the rear quarters and rear grill. Helps space it out evenly.
For bumper tip alignment with the hangers, if the car is on the lift, adjustable jacks under the exhaust tips can help with alignment significantly. Get it set, then torque bolts to spec. Should hold position when the jacks are released.
