    Hi all,

I just relocated to HK and am thinking of getting either a F430 or 458 and have a couple of questions if you don't mind.

Qn #1: May I know which are the recommended independent workshops for a pre-purchase inspection and the usual maintenance/repairs ?

I have tried googling both within and outside this forum but unfortunately didn't get much mileage. Going back to Blackbird is of course an option but trade-off is obviously the higher cost premiums

Qn #2: How much can I expect the comprehensive car insurance to cost for a late thirties male ? And is it possible to transfer my Singapore NCD to HK ? (I have started sending inquiries to various insurers as well)

    Thank you in advance :)

Hi, for the PPI you can consider Musketeers at Kowloon Bay. Reviews of their work in recent years are mixed but they have been in the Ferrari business long enough to conduct a proper PPI I think.

Not sure about insurance as I am local and with years of NCB but I imagine comprehensive would at least be HK$20k a year? I don't think it is possible to transfer your SG NCB but don't quote me on that.

    Happy hunting.

hi AC6, thanks v much for the reply, appreciate it.

I rang Musketeers and was quoted 3,800 HKD for the PPI, is that a fair rate ?

Also I inquired about the regular servicing cost (the usual oil change, filter etc) and Musketeer mentioned it's approx. 10,000 HKD inclusive of parts and labor for a F430.

Now interestingly when I rang Blackbird to inquire, whilst they do not provide PPI services, the person over the lined quoted approx. 11,000 HKD inclusive of parts and labor for regular servicing for a F430. I am quite surprised because it's only marginally higher vs. an independent workshop - am I missing something here ?

    Cheers

All the prices quoted sounds fair. Musketeers being a 'Ferrari specialist' is not cheap so I'm not surprised with the similar quotations for a regular service. Other jobs might differ in prices of course.

For similar pricing I would no doubt bring my car to Blackbird for servicing, which is what I am doing =D

Please check your insurance quotes to see if they assume two or more years driving experience in HK as many are finicky about insuring performance cars.

Hello from a neighbor across the bridge ;)

-> 3800 HKD seems fair to me, I pay more than that in the mainland
-> Got quoted about 50k HKD for insurance last I was hunting for a 458 (6 months ago) in Hong Kong in the aim of double plating it for use in China
-> Blackbird is definitely not cheap
-> You should contact Freddie (tell him you're coming from Alex & Carmen Ho), he knows his stuff. I think he even had a 512tr in stock last I checked :p (LHD tho)
-> Inventory here but unsure how updated that is http://www.sunning.hk/sale.html
