Hey guys, I heard an F355 sold yesterday for $300k! I haven't checked the rest of the thread, but I figure I'm the first to let everyone know :)

I bought my 19K mile Rosso Barchetta GTS 6 Speed from a posting here on FChat four years ago. The car sat around in the for sale listings for weeks (maybe months) before I pulled the trigger. Things have obviously changed.

Must be 1 of the 3 cars I missed. Asking was above $100k though. Nowhere near $70k.

Additional and funny story about how times have changed. At the time I bought my GTS I sort of couldn't justify it. I already had two Ferraris and didn't think I needed a third. I was planning on building a larger garage (I eventually did). But at that time I didn't have the space for it. But it was the perfect car. I remember following a buxom blonde driving that exact spec 355 GTS down Mullholland Drive in LA when I was in law school and saying to myself that if I ever make it financially I'll get a Ferrari (ironically, the 355 was the cheapest Ferrari I'll probably every buy).

So when the car popped up on FChat I didn't immediately inquire about it. The listing sat around for weeks and I tormented myself about it for weeks. At that time I had a massive aged cigar collection (over 10,000 cigars!). I don't really smoke them very much anymore and so I eventually decided to sell some of them to pay for the 355. That, I decided, was my pittance - the cigars for the car. It took me about a month to unload about 20% of the cigars, which was enough to pay for the 355 back then. So in a sense you could say I traded 2000 cigars for a 355 GTS. Ha. That trade seems better every day.

I forget what the asking was, but I paid well below $100K.

A wise man once gave me some great advice (@Robb )

“The happiest owners are the ones who go after exactly what will make them happy long term and just cover up the odometer.”

^^ which I don’t think I could do if I spent 300k on a GTS - or any car for that matter.

I was following the auction with a couple friends and commented that this was a $90k car 4 years ago! Maybe I was lowballing, but I didn't miss by much.

One of the best NSX models you can buy in the U.S, if not the best. Still not quite 355 valuations. 355 remains #2 behind the 993 Turbo (90's sport cars sub $200k MSRP), but it is only a matter of time the market realizes it has made a mistake. Still more room to go gentlemen. There's no limit to "up" :).

Add a Fiorano Handling Pack to your 355 and you should have perfect 10's across the board... or at least in categories that matter :).

I see he conveniently failed to post how many manual GTS' were produced or comment on how many are believed to be available in the U.S. People like to twist information and try to make sense of it.

Ferrari produced 2048 manual GTS' worldwide. If you take a conservative 15% U.S allocation due the disproportionate number of Spiders we were allocated, that's about 300 U.S delivered manual GTS'.

Agree. For RHD market it’s very rare even with 11000 odd produced total . For GTS manual RHD there are just 360 made worldwide. Narrow that down to the spec/condition/MY you are after and it’s slim pickings.
