price drop to $7k! Im new here but are the remaining parts even worth that? It seems too far gone to restore to me, financially that is.
Parts car. They paid what is was worth. They need to part it out now. Flip? There's nothing there to flip!
Those of us who have been doing this a while have a golden rule; "Nothing is more expensive than a cheap Ferrari".
A big "thank you" to Ed Niles for helping me find this car. I am the new very proud owner of #10388, a March 1975 308 GT4. Originally what seems to be a rare Verde Pino with tan interior unfortunately freshly painted "resale red" 15 years ago before being parked with a cracked exhaust manifold. I was honored to meet and spend some time with the 3rd owner of the car the last 16 years and bring it out into the sunlight for the first time in 15 years. It will need some TLC to get it back up and running safely. I took a chance since the engine hasn't turned over at all in that time. The seller was reasonable on the price and even with the work it needs I think I'll only be a little over the current market value for the car when finished. The car won't be delivered for a few weeks but I'll start a thread on the progress and I will be asking for plenty of help to get it sorted out properly. My plan is to go back to the original color and keep the car as original as possible. I plan to even keep the Blaupunkt cassette audio recorder probably installed by the 1st doctor owner. From the paperwork included it looks like the car sat at the dealer in SoCal for about a year and got most of the bulletin updates before it was sold in 1976. More to come. This car was owned by my brother in NC. He bought the car from James Rose in 2004 for $4,000. My brother was a superb craftsman and he was working on the car when he died suddenly. It was titled in New York in 1977. Wayne Carini, ForzaMotorsports, bought it from me for a song in 2010. It has been sold since. I hope it found a good home, and that someone has completed it, because my brother really loved it. I would love to know who has it now and to have a photo of it finished. --Cindy 1975Ferrari308GT4 ( 1-20)
Seems no one has paid attention to this thread for a while. But, if anyone still cares… Most of these cars are listed on the Ferrari Dino 208 & 308 GT4 Registry (which is no longer updated, last update was in 2009)… however, I may have painstakingly copy and pasted all the data and updated cars as I encountered them. For the majority that are listed on that site you'll only find general location info, like state/country and that's it. So, that may not be accurate at all, and most of those say they're in Nevada and Pennsylvania. However, a handful have at least an owners name, some sort of brief history, a photo or two, or I've seen them up for sale on BAT, Auto Trader, or some other site within the last four years: 10068, 10188, 10258, 10442, 10598, 10606, 11022, and 12030. I personally own 10388 (previously owned by jimgolf1 above). I personally know (or did know, or have encountered) the current or previous owners of these cars: 10308, 10400, 10546, and 10662 And these cars are owned by people right here on FerrariChat (who have revealed their cars in other threads I've read): 10174, 10386, 10402, and 10568 I'm sure most of the others are out there, although some are bound to have met their fate.
I followed GT4s for sale for a few years circa 2000-2008 until it became obvious that the same cars were coming up for sale continuously as they were being sold by flippers (individuals or dealers). Unfortunately a lot of history was lost when this forum's server crashed back in the 2000's. I lost a lot of my info as well when my computer suffered a virus. IIRC Peter became overwhelmed with keeping his registry up to date, called it a day and got his life back so he could enjoy his own car. dstacy picked up the ball and collected info with the "How many GT4's here?" thread which is still active but the problem is that people just open a new thread if they don't see the old thread on the first page of the forum and the info gets spread across many threads instead of one central location.
Perhaps the mods could make it sticky so it can be easily accessed and hopefully no random threads will appear? Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
10314 is here. I've been absent for a log time and just recently made a post after moving last Summer. When I saw this thread, I opened it and was surprised to find I was the 1st person to respond to it. Seems such a long time ago now...
I may have ended up with 10714 as of lunchtime today.. It has sat in the corner of an elderly Ferrari/Lambo mechanic's shop since about 1993. I posed about it on here years ago.. maybe 15 years ago. This week he asked me to help him find homes for a few of the cars, including 10714.. I'm not really sure what I intend to do with it. I have the original sales receipt from 1975. It sold new in California, the was sold to a Chicago doctor, who then sold it to my friend. I have the documentation if someone would like more info. It has been neglected for nearly 3 decades, hopefully that will change Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I really have too many cars to keep up with, but I don't want to see it broken up for parts...I did think about maybe trying to turn it into what would look like a period rally racer. Toss out the trashed interior, put in a roll bar and lights. Today I decided to go ahead and pull the plugs and fill the cylinders with oil and over the next few weeks, make sure it can turn over by hand. If we get to that point, I'll do the timing belts and see if we can get it running sometime over the summer. I really want to at least do enough work on it to see if it can be in a better state for someone else to take over to preserve it..
I don't have anything on 10714 but here is the next car built, 10716. IIRC, it too was in bad shape and made into a track car maybe circa 2000. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hi all, at encouragement of others, I got the chassis number (A334) and also confirmed that someone removed the Dino badge on the nose and filled in the wide, horizontal recess to install a Ferrari emblem. We are now working to be able to turn the motor over by hand. Oil in cylinders, plugs out and we will go a little in each direction over the next few weeks until it turns freely. It may be just fine, but not going to move too quickly until we are sure we aren't doing damage Image Unavailable, Please Login
The vin / chassis number is on the opposite side square tubing by the coolant tank. The 334 is the built number prior to being assigned the vin. I’m not sure why there is an A in front of the 334. USA?
I meant to say “body” number… we have a couple lambo’s from the 70’s and like you noted, Bertone stamped the bodies in order of completion before they got a VIN
I currently own 09842. Leonard Pevereri of Bend, OR owned it from 06/24/2002 until his murder in Oct 2022. I bought it from his estate in Aug 2023.
