Just picked up my 2016 488 spider, and I can’t get CarPlay to work. The iPhone comes up with CarPlay screen, but after 3 seconds or so it goes off and when I press the car CarPlay button, nothing happens. The dealer is going to try and sort, but I wondered if there were any tips from here :) ? The iPhone is an iPhone 13

    Thanks….

Have you unlocked your iPhone? I noticed that mine has issues connecting if the iPhone isn't unlocked.

Yes. All unlocked. CarPlay works fine on my other cars with this phone.

I’m using an iPhone 13 with my 2016 488 and other than having to make sure it’s unlocked, CarPlay works pretty well. I do have the random occurrence (<2% of the time) where the stereo doesn’t work at all (like it’s not there!) but a restart sorts it out.

Im sure the dealer can sort it. Good luck!

Dumb question, but have you paired your phone with it?

Phone is plugged in via the cable as it isn't wireless. But it is also paired via bluetooth.....but it shouldn't need to be as it works through the cable. My thought is the car might need a firmware upgrade...

Try pairing under the "Carplay" section of the iphone setup rather than the "Bluetooth" section.
I know it sounds stupid but it worked for me.

Also I have found plugging in the cable after you have started up the car leads to greater reliability for CarPlay.

100% agree. Leave the cable plugged into the USB port, let the head unit power up and settle in 30 seconds, unlock the phone and plug it into the cable.
