Hello all. I sent my 550 Maranello to Craig Waterman some time ago for diagnostic work. I haven't heard from him for a while, so I tried to call for an update. I haven't been able to reach him by phone, email or text. I know Craig was a well-regarded contributor to this forum a few years ago. Does anyone know how to reach him? If not, does anyone know how to proceed to get my car back if he is out of business? Thank you.

    Can you define a while?

How many times have you called and when was it?

I'm not picking on you but some people call at 545 on a Friday and panic on Sunday.

I'm not saying that's you... But sometimes we all need a little reminder that some people refuse to be as connected as some of the rest of us

The name of Craig's business is simply his name: Craig Waterman. Go to https://craig-waterman.com/ for more information. He was at one time a major and well-respected contributor to this site as well as ************.com. He did some work on my 360 and seemed knowledgeable and friendly. I bought a very run-down 550 on Ebay sort of by accident (long story - don't ask) and couldn't make any progress on it, so I asked Craig to help, and shipped the car to him in February 2019. He never was a great communicator, but would respond quickly when I asked for an update. Progress was always slow, and came to a standstill during the pandemic. Now when I call, text or email, I receive no response at all. He has disappeared.

So, my questions for the community are: 1) Does anyone know Craig, and what happened to him, and 2) Does anyone know how I can get my car back?

I believe his business is in Everett just outside Boston. Best to take a ride down to check. Bit of a haul from ME but well worth the drive if you are in doubt.
His website does not list an address. If you know the location perhaps someone local can check for you as well.
    Good Luck!

Dennis, I know the frustration you’re experiencing. I had to deal with a similar situation myself. I eventually had to get the local sheriff involved.

I can’t give you any specific help except to suggest that you start a thread in the New England forum. Someone there with some specific local knowledge might be able to assist. I would probably start by asking if there’s an FChat member attorney who could represent you, to see if there have been any recent court filings…eviction, arrests, etc….re: Waterman. Is there any chance that he’s related to Ed Waterman, a long time and respected Ferrari collector/dealer? I think a personal visit by you or someone you trust is imperative.

Go in person or at least ask someone local to stop by and see what they find. I think sooner is better than later - I know of a couple situations where a lien was placed on the vehicle and ultimately possession was awarded to the shop

When was the last time you actually heard from him by call or email?

Sounds like the car was sent in 2019?

I'd suggest going there in person to at least make sure he is still running his business and not dead?

Thank you, everyone. I will post in the New England forum, and will also take a ride down there in an attempt to see what's going on. Thanks again.

Since I’m not on fb I can’t see much, but if in fact that’s “our” Waterman in that link, what I do see does not impress, at least from a Ferrari servicing perspective. My suggestion to the o.p. would be to recover the car as soon as you can, no excuses, no promises. Aside from death or debilitating illness…or incarceration…there’s no excuse for not communicating with your customers.

Waterman has only about 40 posts on this site and none in almost six years.

I'm going to report it stolen, if I can do that under these circumstances. I'm going to try, anyway.

Don't report as stolen if you can't document your efforts at talking to the shop. You can open yourself up to a lawsuit.

Not to mention add to the "story" of this chassis forever...

FWIW, after a quick search, there are indications that he may have gone to the Ukraine to help.
( I'd suggest your own DD before taking action )

I also found several websites where his workshop address is listed as:
    259 Forest St
    Malden MA 02148

I think that’ll put a ding on the Carfax report and maybe on the title.

I would have offered to drive by there, but 259 Forest St is a house, not a business.
