his wheels stopped spinning just before he went into the gravel trap- so i interpreted that as locking his brakes-
Carlos Sainz and Daniel Ricciardo crash in Imola| Emilia-Romagna GP - YouTube I really don't think Carlos can be blamed for the very brief of locking his wheel after he's been hit and spun around....
Its so easy to type critical reviews here of a driver/drivers in a F1 race. I'm frustrated as we all are, but I think Ferrari has two amazing shoes. Red Bull is the team to beat and we just need to get it all together. This car is good, the drivers are amazing. Could Lec have made a mistake, sure, he knows it, Move on. Race tomorrow. Forza Ferrari!
Indeed a rare feat. Owing upto one's fault is very challenging which few posses. Despite being from our rival team, he has my respect.
Something is weird with our pace deficit in Imola compared with Red Bull ( 3 tenths). The race before we had 5 tenths/lap advantage. So the swing is 8 tenths between two races. Quite unusual in Formula one. I guess the tyre learning process is the main factor of this.
RB has shedded some weight in order to catch up with Ferrari. How much they lost is unknown to us, but they were pretty bullish about the weight reduction playing into an advantage for them, Just my thoughts, no idea how much losing weight leads to gain.
I'm not criticizing his driving skills(he is exponentially more talented than I could ever be)-he comes across as a very likable person and i root for his success. i just wondered if he could have prevented beaching it in the sand.
Big difference between running in front (Max) and running behind and trying to pass your opponents #2 car. I think the deficit, if there was one, was insignificant.
During the last five laps of the sprint race, Max pace was clearly faster. He managed to overtake Charles quite easily.
Leclerc's 2 wins have been misleading: Red Bull had reliability problems. Imola was a reality check: the Red Bull was a faster car. Ferrari has to bring updates soon, and hopefully eliminate that dreadful porpoising.
Not really considering that Max retired from the race twice with Leclerc in the lead already. Leclerc was ahead on pace. Simple as that.
Had Verstappen's car not broken at Bahrain and Melbourne, you would have a different points score though. How do you explain RB's wins at Jeddah and Imola?
4 races, 2 wins each.( even 3-2 for Max if you count the sprint as a race) Ferrari can't be complacent because Leclerc is leading on points at the moment.
Of course Max would be closer on points, had the car finished. But he wouldn't have won! You say Leclerc's wins where misleading, in what possible world are they misleading when he was leading in Bahrain and clearly ahead in Australia?! What do you mean ''explain'' the wins...Jeddah Max and Leclerc where neck and neck all weekend long, Max took Leclerc with a few laps to go. Imola Red Bull brought an upgrade and more importantly, unpredictable weather played it's part. We don't even know what setup either team ran (dry or wet).
+1 in a nutshell. Still early days folks. Ferrari has been strong right out of the box with plenty of time and space under the budget cap for upgrades.
You said it all: Max would be closer, and the points gap is misleading. If I judge by the Imola weekend, Red Bull has now has the superior pace. (post #737) I would much prefer Leclerc to stay ahead, but Red Bull knows how to fight back.
lol, you completely change the variable to match your misplaced argument. The issue at hand had nothing to do with points.
I hope Sainz gets back in the game. Honestly I hope he wins Miami. I have a feeling the hoards will unleash if he gets another DNF. He needs some good luck for once.
Carlos needs to drive a solid race. He CAN drive, but sometimes you need to know when to finish vs when to finish first. Its all about that here. Lec F'ed up last weekend and he knows it. P3 would have been fine. Its the long game. Chas is a world class shoe. I think got it. He just wanted to push it on the home court. Forza Ferrari!
