Guys! Anyone had the same issues with Ricambi besides paying ridiculously outrageous prices for their stuff? I placed a small parts order with them on Wednesday night for nuts, washers, bolts (maybe 1-1/2 lbs) weight at best, and I need them ASAP! On checkout, I chose the two day delivery method which cost me ($70) which I felt a bit high but any how, I need the parts. So I got their email and the parts shipped. I thought this was guaranteed and the parts should be arriving late today, tomorrow at best! So now the tracking update is showing May 2nd... four days later via FedEx. I tried to call Ricambi and their phone system also sucks, it makes you to leave a message which I did with no return call... I redialed their number about 50 times with the same message to leave a message. What crap! If I was able to speak with Daniel or someone, I wanted a return on the $70 for shipping... I don't know how anyone can run a business like Ricambi does... They got me for over $400 worth of hardware in which probably cost them $30 as best (Yep I know this was my poor decision) + $70 for crappy shipping) ... got screwed! This will be my last interaction with them! BE AWARE Guys!!!! Image Unavailable, Please Login
Not speaking to the issues with Ricambi, who has a very good reputation btw here. Just a point of reference, at the moment shipping anything anywhere in any time frame is a complete crap shoot. It's wrecking our business time frames as well at the moment, the other issue is damages to shipped items are way way up. It's gotten absurd. We avoid FedEx like the plague. I can ship to Europe faster and cheaper then anywhere domestically at the moment. For hardware unless it's something very specific to Ferrari, McMaster Carr is your friend. Another option for you based on your stated location if you're in a hurry is Ferrari parts exchange in Sacramento. But again, right now shipping is a nightmare. And may have nothing to do with Ricambi. Now if the issue is due to parts availability and not shipping until ready, that's another issue. This is the screwed up supply chain and it's only been getting worse.
In my experience Ricambi has been among the very best suppliers of Ferrari parts. Re shipping - the reality today is that shipping prices for just about anything has gone way up. Shipping times are no longer accurate either. But that's the responsibility of the shipper, not the shop. And NONE of the shippers are "better" than any other. I used to think Fedex was pretty good but no longer - they are no more reliable than UPS/DHL, or the postal service. Re prices - Pre-Covid I used to be able to ship a guitar in a case for around 30-40 bucks; now they want $100! They also can't find addresses. We continually have packages delivered to the wrong address. When I enquire, I'm informed that it was delivered to the correct address, verified by GPS. BUT the delivery just uses the GPS and does not LOOK at the number on the house/mailbox/curb. IOW, the GPS says he's at 555 Jones Road and he drops off the package, never looking that the ACTUAL address on the house is 557 Jones Road.
Yep ... before placing an order with Ricambi, I did explore other options including McMaster . I left a messages with them, but if you can't get through to speak with a human person on the other end, how was I able to fixed with Daniel????
Once the parcel has left the shipper, it's out of their hands. If you want a refund on shipping, call FedEx. It's their problem not Ricambia's. In my experience with shipping, just select the default shipping option and with Ricambia, it's like $7, which is cheap and effective. You'll get the parts just as soon as the higher cost shipping option and maybe a day or two later. If you are ordering standard nuts and bolts, you should be going to McMaster Carr instead. You'll get a bag of bolts instead of one but they'll be a Chevy costs instead of Ferrari gold plating. If you really need nuts and bolts quickly, your standard Home Depot and Lowes have a fairly extensive collection and as a bonus, you can pick them up and fondle them in person rather than waiting for days just to find out you ordered the wrong thing.
The two go-to's are McMaster and bell metric. If one can't find it there, it doesn't exist. McMaster will do special order, gotta love the old school 'bible' catalogue.
Yep agreed... I will admit, this was my POOR decision to go with them... and if Racambi knew they can't rely on FedEx to come through for the shipping end then IMO they need to switch shippers... I do know UPS is MUCH better then FexEd with a 90% accuracy for shipping dates, but I didn't have a choice at checkout!
I should have but I didn't ... I didn't check with GT Car Parts or Ferrparts, but when I needed something simple, Ferrparts never came through for me, so I didn't even called them !
And besides... the amount Ricambi is charging us for their parts, you would think they would have purchased a better phone/answering service than telling you to just leave a voice message! IMO that's not great "customer service" which is back on them!
I'll save you the trouble @BLACK HORSE I have cancelled and refunded your full order. Call, email, or message us next time you have such frustration.
Enough complaining about Ricambi... I'm over it! However FedEx is anther company that is "impossible" to resolve any problem you might have, they think they do no wrong and good luck getting any refund from! If I saw that they used Fedex as their primary shipping company, in which Ricambi didn't state this at checkout... I would simply choose another shipping option if offered (USPS)
Very disappointed to see a member vent out like this. As a former Global Logistics Manager I would recommend you take matters directly with the company or supplier. You loose credibility handling your issue like you did. Just saying……..
Total respect for you man but Ricambi’s prices are clearly posted and website doesn’t show “gun to your head” option at check out. All part of the “Ferrari” experience. Shipping anything at the moment is a crapshoot on what it will cost and when it will arrive. Last month I sent a stencil for the 308 airbox to a friend in the UK. UPS quoted me $120. USPS quoted me $13 and it arrived six days later. Go figure.
For fasteners, i simply buy from McMaster. Even if you only need 5 washers out of box of 50 they sell you, its relatively inexpensive. Plus only about $5 shipping per order, just buy all your stuff on one order. I got nice plated acorn nuts for my valve covers there. Also, many ACE hardware stores have a fair selection of metric fasteners, the per item price is a lot more than the per item price of box of 50, but if you only need couple washers, it saves money. Doug
Rob, Ricambi has been extremely good to me with everything I order from them. FedEx is the unknown in the discussion. We get what we get. For metric fasteners, Global Metrics is whom I use. They are 1 mile from me, I walk in, tell them what I need and 95% of the time, I walk out with the right stuff. I get fasteners from Ferrari only when it is very specific ... like the stainless steel m5 nuts on the 355 spark plug covers, or the extra long funny bolts for the 355 slave bearings, or the suspension bolts with horsies on them.
100 percent correct, I absolutely love McMaster and I prefer the catalog over the app or website, I have solved many complex problems with parts out of that catalog
I've used McMaster Carr in work for unobtainable hardware in work but could never justify the hassle and cost for fasteners to Ireland. Since July 2020 its impossible to order from outside the EU without rip off fees. I envy you.
Just FYI, Fedex, UPS, USPS, etc. are not shippers. They are carriers. Any outfit that transports goods is called a carrier. The person or company you are purchasing from is the shipper. Ricambi is a shipper. Your Aunt Ida is a shipper. As a 22-year supply chain certified transportation consultant, it kind of irks me when wrong terminology is used. Sorry for the rant.
Who calls them that? Only people not involved in the transportation industry and don't know any better. None of my clients ever called them that. Archer Daniels Midland, HarperCollins publishers, Cargill, Inland Paperboard and Packaging, Ralcorp (Ralston) and about 30 others who make up many of the largest shippers in the U.S. They were all clients of mine. Here's a handy terms guide. See "carrier" and "shipper". https://www.globaltranz.com/transportation-terminology/
