I recently bought a Space saver spare wheel for my 4200. The tyre size is 185/60/17 and wheel is 6x17 H2 -38.8 ET( that s minus 38.8). That is 25.7 high and 7.3 wide.

The standard wheel details are Centre bore 57.1/ 5x108 wheel bolt/m14x 1.5 studs/ET53.

The 575 has a space saver which is 125/80/17. Which is 24.9 high and 4.9 wide.

    The standard wheel is 67.1 centre bore/5x108 wheel bolt/m14x 1.5 and ET42.

Has anyone tried the Maserati 4200 space saver on a 575? Any issues or problems. As the maserati one needs inflated before use, then de-inflated to replace in boot i am reluctant to inflate it in case it affects its capability.

It seems as if it is a perfect fit. As i live in Scotland and some of our roads are very remote, would like to carry a spare in the 575 for such journeys as a can of foam won't really work in many situations.

    Any advice welcome.

575M tires are approximately 26" in diameter, so sounds like she should fit better than the OEM spare tire. 575Ms with spare tires had a cutout in the boot floor panel to fit the spare tire upright and it appears they were more worried about boot space than match to the other tires. You would need to carry a wheel bolt wrench and jack, obviously.

Another possible solution is to carry a small compressor with alligator clips for the battery. If you get a flat, fill and drive as many times as necessary to get where she can be repaired. Some owners even carry a plug kit. The compressors that attach to the cigar lighter often do not work well or pop a circuit breaker because of the weak connection.

When I was looking at getting a space saver spare for my 550 I found out that the full size wheel won’t fit into the boot (trunk). So if you do need to change you will need to find a solution of what to do with the flat. Not sure if it would fit on the passenger seat if you were alone.

If you are close to home you could get someone to come and take the flat, but if you are some distance for home this could be a dilemma. Someone said that they hid the wheel in the scrub on the side of the road and came back later to retrieve it. If you came back and the wheel was missing this would be an expensive exercise.

I carry a plug kit and portable compressor.

I hadn't checked that and had assumed like in the 4200 that the wheel would fit. In that case it would be pointless. I had the same thing in the Countach. It had a space saver, You could fit a front wheel in the front boot, but not a rear. Leaving your wife/husband/friend to put the wheel in the passenger seat wrapped up in their coat to save the leather, is a good way to start a divorce/ruin a friendship!!

I have found that a standard 550 front wheel and tire fit in my trunk with the top cover panel removed. So I carry that as a spare. I also easily have room for a scissor jack. I'm not sure what you do with the flat tire and rim if it's one of the rears. My thought was to hide it somewhere and come back for it later.

If you do carry a spare and use it, I don’t think the original wheel will fit in the trunk. Maybe carry a towel and passenger seat it.

A 550 front tire will fit, a 550 rear tire will not.
