@JFISHFERRARI I have a little thread entitled "I don't know what to buy" that you can sift through if you get bored at the office. Like most of the guys on the sub, I am a classic Ferrari/motorsport nerd. I have a GT4 on an allocation that I will receive and hold onto until the used car market comes back to reality a little bit and then look at 458's (I have a thing for NA engines). I am just over the WI border in Pleasant Prairie.

At this point, you are probably thinking to yourself, "Ivan, why do I care about any of this?" and you are correct in thinking that. I have never purchased a Ferrari before, so its nice to make initial contact with someone at the dealer I will most likely go to. :)

Thanks for all the comments. I ended up buying somewhere else. I know there are advantages to buying from a dealer. However, optional warranties are just optional. Not forced. I am very aware of the transmission issues and top issues. I like working on cars and would try to fix whatever I could. Transmission not so much. I told them I planned on changing exhaust which voids the power warranty they said. So why would I buy an optional warranty again? Hey, here is 5k just for fun. Cali a girls car? Well going to let my wife drive it so maybe so??

Thanks, Jordan! I am hoping that towards the end of next year I can get into a 458. Ideally, I can swing by Lake Forest and “press the flesh” as they say /introduce myself to you and see the showroom later this year, if that is okay. Nice to meet you over the internet. Maybe one day, we will have each other in our MySpace Top 8’s. Have a great weekend!

When I bought my new F430 the dealer said I had to include an extra year of warranty in the sale. I knew that at the time of ordering.

Interesting timing as I DID buy a 2013 California HS a few weeks ago from one of the Ferrari Dealerships in the Chicago area and while I did pay the asking price I was not required to pay for a new power warranty ...However I did end up buying it cause it was a 10 year old car that I was not familiar with ... but it was not in anyway a condition of the sale

Girls car or not..... I bought it (my third cali) with the idea of trying to daily drive it I wanted a non turbo Ferrari and not really a fan of the FF ...I like the orig cali size

UPDATE. I did buy a 2016T from a Ferrari dealer in Florida. They were awesome! They gave me the balance of the PT warranty till April 23 and I did buy the ext 2 year to April 25. They flat out told me they do NOT void warranties without considering common sense. Best buying experience from a dealer.

I think other manufacturers have taken note, because looking at even Toyota dealers, they add on things now. Tried to buy an old car for my mom early last year and they had a $1000 add on for all pre-owned. More recently, two included a $2,500 ToyotaCare on all new cars and said it was required (and with the wait for new cars, they are probably getting their way)

I've purchased from the dealer in question and have never heard such a thing, and I also asked about the warranty with an exhaust and the same dealer basically said as long as the exhaust doesn't cause the claim it's fine.

I wonder who the salesman was.

Either way congrats on the purchase!

With the crappy build quality that these *********** at Ferrari are letting go out the factory door, I would buy as much extended warranty that is available.Same with Ducati, these two companies suck dick, its that simple.

not only is it not 'normal practice', it is illegal. I have been a finance director/manager in dealerships for 26 years... ANY backend products such as extended service agreements, GAP, maintenance, tire/wheel etc are OPTIONAL and are NOT required to purchase the vehicle and do not affect interest rate... period. Now, a deal *can* try to list the vehicle for a price that includes the extended service contract (warranty as most people call it but it an incorrect word)-- funny enough about this example you mentioned is that $4900 is exactly the COST of the 2 yr Ferrari CPO extension.... so it's odd that they are not marking it up. In Florida, 'warranties' are mandated and regulated by the state and sell for $5995 at Ferrari dealers..... almost EVERY other state, the dealer can mark it up to whatever they want (within their company policy). However, standard markup is usually between 2500 and 3500 so a sell price of 7400-8400..... All that said, I think 4900-8400 is a really good deal for two yr CPO extension and I certainly recommend it.
