So trying to take the full inner door panel off a 458, got all the fixings removed, don't want to force it, take it there must be plastic /metal clips holding the leather top half on in addition to the visible fixings?...any input welcomed.

    Best.

Just to update on this, I had missed one of the airbag bolts, once this one was removed the door panel came straight off....I was removing the panel to adjust the door handle gap as it was a bit out from the factory, all done and back together now.

Reviving and old thread to say thanks; that last bolt was really not obvious!

One question: the shop manual says to disconnect the battery (it says this for everything though), which I did not do. Is there any danger of the air bag going off when I disconnect it from the door harness?

Yes, never touch anything related to the airbag without disconnecting the battery first!

Nice video although i wonder why he didnt hook up the electrical. Would that plug go thru the white foam door "seal material" & directly plug into the speaker?

I was kind of wondering the same thing. Why would he make a truly amazing video on how to remove the panel, but then not show one of the most important steps on how to properly feed the wire through the door to connect to the speaker terminals, lol
I'm sure it's easy to figure out, but caught me off guard after such a detailed video.
