I think we are under the FF/Lusso/F12/812 section. Perhaps the PS will warrant a new section as the SF90 and 296 did? Edit Or do you mean thread? Been long running here since 2017…. There will be new threads when it is officially released. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Well, they recently bought a huge lot on the north side of Via Musso, in Maranello, where tons of smaller warehouses and buildings etc are/were located. Easy to build up an entire new factory there. Marcel Massini
15'000 units total production of ALL Ferraris, all models, per year, NOT 15'000 FUV's. So, an increase of 4'000 from 11'000 units to approx. 15'000, per year, grand total production. Marcel Massini
@1881 But, they do not have the staff to produce more than approx. 2,200 V12 engines per year, more factory space will not help achieve higher V12 production since it mostly performed manually, not via robots like the V8/V6.
If you read the call they also committed to hiring 250 additional workers in the short term. More details on their capital markets day upcoming.
Sections are created once the vehicles are officially announced from Ferrari. There's several reasons, but one is that the names used in speculation tend to not be accurate.
If you read the analyst call they are NOT done with the 812 variants. They noted the 812’s will be produced for another 2 years. This includes the 812 SF and the 812C’s. They need to produce all the 812 SF orders that came in before they cut off orders - mine included. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Non refert quam multos sed quam bonos habeas. (It is quality rather than quantity that matters.) -- Lucius Annaeus Seneca, Letter 45: On sophistical argumentation (Enzo, LDM, et al would agree)
From what I understand the tradesmen/journeymen building V12s are not new hires, it is a trade, takes skill and training. Those new employees referenced are being housed nearby and are line workers or other, I cannot believe they would be on the V12 engine assembly line.
Yes the 812's are done they are not producing any more. The 812GTS will be in production for another 2 years.
My case. Having own an SUV for past few years, because i need one for family runs, i wouldn't mind having one with v12 Best for both worlds? Or having to seperate the duties, so to take SUV for school runs, twice a DAY how often i get to drive any kind if sports car? twice a WEEK, and even then... So go for it ! As i said, my case. it is easy to hire driver, they can do groceries but i just don't trust them regarding my kids.
I’ve always said no to the SUV over my Lusso unless it had a V12. 4 doors vs 2 would be much more convenient. Hopefully Kline will do an exhaust…. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Not surprisingly (post 2020), the exhaust note leaves much to be desired. If this is indeed a V12, the engine note is quite disappointing for a vehicle carrying the Ferrari name. In my ears opinion, that is.
One of the well known spotters who is from Maranello and very familiar with Ferraris V12 sonority wrote that the Purosangue mule sounded good and I believed. However, after listening to the engine sound on the video like you I wasn't impressed at all hoping sincerely that the final car will sound a lot better.
@KenU I believe it is a V12, probably 4 liter or smaller, maybe 3.5L, no way the 6.5L fits in this bonnet: Image Unavailable, Please Login and, here are some track videos, the "down shift grunt" is no where near what the 812 family provides including the 'roma-like test mule', has to be a smaller block and probably 500-550PS and, from one of those videos, interesting comparison...seems the 812 tail and the FUV tail are about the same height, only the seating position and greenhouse of the FUV are taller... Be careful with test mules- some are older Maserati bodied mules. The PS I don't believe has been seen yet without the rear door window uncovered and I have yet to see any rear door handle conventional or not, unlike the Maserati mules.
Those videos are from 6 mos- 1 yr ago… could be a different test mule as mentioned. Also, how do we know they haven’t put a silencer or different exhaust on it? Ferrari is very tricky with its releases. If it is a V12, it will sound amazing regardless! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I am probably in the minority on this board, as I don't like the look of the PS mules but find the Lusso stunningly beautiful. Even from the back.
