Lots of posts about leaking fuel from bad accumulator but didn’t see any pics/vids so thought I’d share again. I am 3/3 (100%) for Ferrari’s I’ve owned with fuel leaks ! Fortunately I’ve been able to find and fix before anything bad happens..

Found a small wet area below the accumulator on the passenger side and could see this.

Just for interest this was my ‘77 308 gtb when I drove it home after I bought it… it was a 2.5 hour drive, across the US/Canada border, plus time spent for paperwork to do the importing etc. Thought it was using a bit of fuel while driving on the interstate. Smelled gas and had checked under the car at a rest stop and didn’t see anything dripping and thought the smell was because it was catless (had a gas leak previously on the ‘84 328 at a banjo fitting on the fuel pump before- so was looking for something similar). When I got home, I checked the engine with it running and found …

Leaking from a banjo fitting onto the carbs! Those fittings are a hazard! People don’t know how to tighten them, especially when on a hard line!

Just noticed description of the vid is obviously wrong and don’t seem to be able to edit it … it’s a 1977 not 1997 (brain fart, I also have another car that 1997)

Thanks for the vid. Next time the car is run, I’ll know where to look.

Thats a vast leak next of carburators....and tighten them is a real pain. I have this problem also with brake connections hard lines. Tighten them and still leaking or break something.

Is your copper seal ring brand new? They cannot be reused unless annealed.

Yeah was a real pain. I carry tools when I pick up cars, now I also carry a fire extinguisher. Have never had to use one except one at the track..
Was able to lift the air filter housing to get the 17mm wrench on it. Did it without removing the engine lid.

Did you find a generic (cross-referenced) Bosch part that worked or did you go with the Ferrari part number option?

    It is a Bosch part:

    Ferrari 125135 = Bosch 0438170042

Shop around if you need one -- prices vary a lot.

When I had the same accumulator go bad, I replaced them on both banks for added insurance. You might also want to get used to looking for slight fuel leakage from the "tell-tail" rubber vent on the back of each fuel pressure regulator. I never did until I had a total failure that flooded the top of the left bank through the vent. I then replaced both fuel pressure regulators and now know to look once in a while as a precaution. eBay price for 0438170042 is better:

    https://www.ebay.com/p/74610659

(No need to risk a substitution. Based on the years, 76-77, I'd guess that those Volvo units would be OK if the fittings are the same thread sizes/types (the inside female shape of the fittings may be different as the F is an oddball one IIRC) - but don't know that. The danger is getting a later KE3-Jet Accumulator that has a higher residual pressure. If you did/do make a substitution, make sure the measured residual pressure is the correct value.)
