What is the procedure with these cars to get the pistons fully retracted when installing new brake pads. I’ve done hundreds of them on Fords and GM cars and we always used to just use a C clamp but apparently the system is a little different could somebody please explain it to me. TIA

The rears need screwing back using the Allen bolts when you remove the covers . It’s because of the cable parking brake turns a worm inside which moves the piston ( not very well ) onto the pad , which tightens up on the disk / rotor .
Can’t remember which way but the L+ R are opposed.

With the fronts, a C clamp should be fine. Portofino correctly described the rear procedure. Hopefully, the inner covers will come off for you. They are often difficult. The adjusting Allen screws are 4 mm. You want to turn the inner adjusters counterclockwise to move the pistons away from the rotor and the outer adjusters clockwise to move the pistons away from the rotor.

Do you then tighten the adjusters to get the pads closer to the rotor?

Inner: Clockwise - pads closer to rotor.
Outer: Counterclockwise - pads closer to rotor.
