#33 should be listed in this register as destroyed. I looked closely at the pictures at eBay, where it is still offered, and it appears to have been in massive contact with water. The cover looks bad, some pages seem to have stuck together leaving marks of the oppposite pages' colour on them, and the whole book appears to be wavy.

Four on eBay simultaneously? That’s pretty unusual, I’d think. And £1180 for a damaged book? Come on.

There is even a fifth one in the U.S., which has been offered numerous times at a price of USD 1,700 for months now and reappears regularly.

Check out post #92 on this thread, that book keeps turning up like a bad penny.

Also when I was looking around to buy my copy, and I saw quite a few, I never saw one that had the book number written in such thick Texta like on book 33.

Unless the water/ moisture damaged the original writing and someone has gone over it.

You can see the waves in page in that photo too.

The whole book is just weird...

I still think around GBP 1,800 is the current market value for a mint condition standard blue cloth copy with or without the outer cardboard packaging.

As the reserve price still hadn't been met, just a few minutes ago, I took the liberty to buy copy #62 (blue standard edition) in mint condition together with the original Palawan brochure about the book. ;) I am very, very happy and look forward to receiving that very nice item. The long hunt for a copy has come to an end :)

Congratulations and welcome to an exclusive owners club. :)

You will love it from cover to cover.

Can I asked what you paid for the standard edition book ?

Much more than I ever wanted, but I wanted the book now. And the copy is in excellent condition and comes together with the original Palawan brochure about the book. So, in the end, we agreed upon 1,725 GBP plus shipping.

I think you payed a fair price Sven for a mint copy with a nice low number, and they will never go down in value, only up.

I doubt you'll regret it. It's very much a "the quality is remembered long after the price is forgotten" kind of book.

I remember the price often. Each time when the current market is mentioned here.
My price was around $ 400.00 USD shortly after the book was released. Plus a siginificant subscription discount during the year 1996.

Pleas tell me which stocks are only going up. Will buy a few :)

I think that would have been more-or-less the original price wouldn't it? A quick look online tells me that would be equivalent to about $737 today. It was never cheap but still a good return. Although you only make a profit if you sell!

I used to buy from them frequently. The good old days, pre-www and email.:) I didn’t realize they sold for Palawan.

They were my go to guys for years even purchased a few factory owners manuals from them. Without counting all my receipts I would venture to guess that half my collection came from them. I think that Palawan had a tuff time selling all of the 1000 copies of that book in the 90s; I bought it ‘98 and my number is 759, $600.00 was big money for a specialty book or any book for that matter. Also think that Classic Motor was a clearing house for a lot publishers products or companies’ over stock.

You bought yours in 1998. I bought mine in 1996 immediately after its release after I had pre-ordered it. So I got a so called subscription discount for pre-ordering.

Bought my first copy in 1996 for €450 from a local bookstore. Sometime later ordered from Palawan directly, paying £600.- (shipping included) per copy, and payed £750.- for my last (red) copy.

I bought my copy of Ferrari In Camera and also a copy of Aston Martin, The Complete Car through Classic Motorbooks in 1998 with a 25% off sale. I think they must have been having a hard time selling them back then.
