    which is equivalent of tyco

    I did order the 151 bosch cause they're cheap and quick from Amazon just to try for diagnostic purposes and yes they are for my 4 Ignition related relays. I mentioned that I had opened up the 4 relays and found that the contacts were quite pitted and burned and I cleaned them meticulously with Emery paper here are a couple of pics it's quite easy. Simply take a small screwdriver and pry open the 4 crimps on the metal cover and it comes right off. No diodes and no capacitors inside these suckers these are old school just a coil and a single contactor!
    Honestly I just took it for a spirited drive and got everything up to temp came home let it sit and it fired right up I tried it at 5 minutes 10 minutes and 20 minutes and could not replicate the hot start issue so maybe it's fixed!

    PS today's test was with my 4 cleaned relays...I haven't received the 151s yet.

    It's odd that is happens when engine is hot. The relays do not know the engine is hot or not. Themselves are not subject to engine temps either.

    Very true....and it's possible I'm way off base....Just trying to systematically eliminate things.....cheap as well. I just ordered 2 crank sensors for the heck of it. Again cheap enough and can eliminate one more "possibility".

    Ohh ya I replaced all the relays they get wonky with time, as you saw they get damaged internally. Cheap easy insurance.

    Could be cam sensor too. Crank and cam sensors. Also cheap but I'd also put in new coolant temp sensors. I would bet on those since the car runs fine otherwise.

    the fact that it happened when is hot may also be a coincidence, as it happened to me; in fact in later tests it had happened to me even in cold;
    but mine was running on 4 cylinders and with dead rev counter, so you could see that it was a directly electreic problem;

    maybe if I had opened and cleaned the relay like you Polo, I could have solved it on the spot

    the sensors you can get the Kia references OK2A6-18-891, I bought it directly in kia for 33€

    I truly appreciate all the excellent advice. I've got new relays and new crank sensors but I want to systematically test and eliminate... I'm bogged down with other projects and won't be able to tinker on the car til next week but will definitely post updates and progress.
