My 15 Spider doesn't have any free services left. I have a lift and will be doing my own service from now on. When I started looking into what oil Ferrari recommends, it's the Pennzoil Platinum Racing 5w40 part number 550051259. I found an online retailer and have been waiting 3 weeks and now come to find out it could be the end of June until I get it. I can't wait that long. The old Platinum Euro 5w40 is apparently not recommended by Ferrari any longer and there is information that it's been reformulated.

For those of you doing your own oil changes, what oil are you using?

So my dealer was nice enough to send me a picture of the Pennzoil product they use. I called Pennzoil and gave them the part number and it’s a proprietary part number for Ferrari dealers. The equivalent consumer product is the Pennzoil Platinum Racing 5w40 and not the Platinum Euro. Problem is none will be available until mid July after calling my distributor today. Looks like I’ll just have to wait for the correct oil. I had it changed in 2019 and have only driven 1000 miles since.

I'm using Pennzoil Platinum Euro Full Synthetic 5W-40, which according to a bulletin I read is approved by Ferrari. So far the engine hasn't seized ;)

I also use Pennzoil Platinum Euro Full Synthetic 5W-40 (which used to have the Ferrari logo but does not anymore); I get it at Advance Auto Parts. Typically have to go to a couple of different store because my nearest one usually only has ~ 6 quarts on hand at any given time. You can also get it on Amazon but there is something fulfilling about walking out of the store with a bunch of oil

I'm with Mick on this one. Shell Helix Ultra for my '13 Spider. It is stated in my owners manual and therefore that's what I use.

The reason I chose Mobil 1 over Pennzoil is that it tends to foam .. I am sure either is perfect .. especially for our low mileage cars

From a scientific approach ..I have been using Mobil 1 0w 40 in various vehicles including daily drivers and every time i do a oil analysis it comes back with flying colors

I use it in queens and daily drivers ..German , Italian, US

It seems to also have a nice TBA either with lots of mileage or just sitting ..

10W60 on my Speciale as recommended by Ferrari. It eats some performance but guess engine is better protected under heavy loads on higher revving

In the future, stay away from the Penz. It foams way too much.

I always use Royal Purple because I have yet to find an oil that foam as little as Royal P.

Thanks everyone. I overthought this one. I didn't realize Shell Helix Ultra 5w40 was available on Amazon. I looked at my 812 and there is a tag that states which oil to use.

Same oil as what? The Platinum Euro 5w40 or the Platinum Racing 5w40?

My local Ferrari dealer has been using Pakelo fluids for a few years. They have various approval ratings… who knows… you can get lost in motor oils. Best advice is change the oil more than factory recommends…surely can’t hurt.
Here info on the oil Tampa dealer uses
