No thanks required! I was just pointing out the facts. I have to admit that I didn’t appreciate at auction end that the winning bidder was a big sport celebrity. JJW is a big guy so I think a Ghibli would be ideal for him. If it fitted Wilt the Stilt…. hopefully he will drive it around a bit and raise the Maserati profile. It’s a top top notch car so I’m sure he’ll love it. Now to see the blue Bora go $300k plus…! cheers all. M

Although I like the current color combo a lot - but white color with blue interior would be very special to a Bora! Love that!
I've never seen any picture of a Bora in white. Does someone have a picture that could be posted. The white against the stainless steel brushed top would certainly be interesting as maybe the top would be wiped out with that color and not show well but who knows? I wouldn't want to see a Bora in silver as it would definitely take away from the s.s. top.
The only Boras I've seen which looked white were in B/W photos of the factory's styling mule on pages 32 and 33 - and a production model Bora on pages 35 and 36 of Jan Nordbye's 'Maserati Bora & Merak' book, in which the 'white' contrasts well with the stainless roof. See also page 192 of Marc's 'Maserati - The Citroen Years' book. My #932 was delivered to an LA customer in silver over a red interior.. which I can't imagine looked remotely decent with the black side strips and enormous black US rubber bumpers ... perish the thought. - Art
Well to each his own. I've seen the silver red combo and thought it quite nice. The stainless steel roof doesn't pop quite as much. The 75 & 77 USA Boras are quite a styling departure from the rest. Rear bumper aside, the front is a modernizing effect which was popular at that time on cars such as the Pantera and Ferrari Boxer. If it's recessed more than the stock position it looks quite nice. Far better than Lamborghini's abortion on it's Countach. But it's the rear where things go badly for the Bora for those years. It ends up looking like a fat fraulein what with that lower valance in the rear. If the car is medium to light in color I think the black rocker panels tend to break up the fat look and the chin on these cars, 77 at least, were painted in black. That's lost on the darker cars and SS rockers help in that case. Here in the USA a number of Bora owners had SS rockers made for their cars during the late 1990's to early 2000's.

Shows plenty of areas that need attention but overall seems solid. This car represents the condition most commonly found on a Ghibli and will tell us of the overall strength of the Ghibli market. If this car sells for $200K+ I predict you will see a parade of Ghiblis on BaT. Ivan
Hi from Portofino, just arrived for dinner, tried to park at the upper Belmond palace but it was full of current Ferraris and Lambos, privatised so I went to park in the village lot...yet more of them...but one car stood out He had scraped a wall obviously, how Murcielagos can fit in these tiny alleys is beyond me. I fully agree on that bet about the Ghibli driver. I had nothing to do with this private event, just stumbled on it, did not dine with them.
Why didn`t you look on the dash, driver`s side for the VIN? If its a genuine spyder, the VIN is there located on a small plaque....
